I feel this contest would be so much better if we had beautiful women competing.

They should be the only ones allowed to compete.

I substituted the word "disgusted" every time they said "impressed". Made for a much more enjoyable presentation.

That guy who was dipping them in a red colored sports drink was really making me want to throw up lunch..

As long as the corrupt forces of Major League Eating conspire to keep Kobiyashi out, this isnt a contest.

I was trying to figure that out too. Made him look even more gross at the end.

This is so silly. Even sillier is ESPN (and the commentators) trying to pass it off as a serious sport. It's ludicrous.

I saw like 10 minutes of it when I was on the elliptical just now and I could barely hold in my laughter.

I mean seriously - what's next...competitive tattooing???

NASCAR is more of a sport than this is - this is just dudes stuffing their faces

I lost my shit when whoever the announcer was starting comparing Chestnut to the Yankees team that won 5 straight world series, 49-53 I think it was. Then he did the whole "If you don't think these guys are athletes......." spiel. Also when they started breaking down how Joeys shoulder bursitis might be affecting his eating. Deep in my heart I want to believe they weren't being serious but I sort of think they were.

I had the same reaction in general - although I was busting ass actually ya know...being athletic, so I wasn't really listening to what they were saying for the few minutes I watched...but yeah - the sense I got from the tone was that they were being serious, and it made me sad. No wonder we're a nation of obese fat-asses, if we consider these people athletes and this a sport.:(

He said something to the effect of "you don't think this is a sport? Tell that to the 40,000 people here!" Because if it gathers a crowd, it's a sport!

So later last night, watching fireworks...sport!

They already have that one the main channels, it's called cheerleading I think. I think they even have legal and not quite legal divisions for the man with eclectic tastes. I know it's a sport on account of I can see all their underpants.

I had a friend who loved NASCAR. He told me once the reasons he felt it was popular and should be considered a sport:

1) It's exciting
2) It's fast
3) It can be dangerous

My response: Those 3 things could describe my sex life too, but that doesn't make it a sport either!

Tying back into the original thought, I bet 40,000 people would watch that too. Although I can make no guarantees on the main event going a full 10 minutes.
