Just figured I'd throw this out there. I wanted to try and target active owners. I was hoping to interest some of you online OOTP fanatics that share a love of football as well as an ootp/ baseball/ sim gaming addiction.

I am starting a new NFL keeper league and have spots open. The league will use individual defensive players. Instead of drafting an entire team defense, you will be able to draft individual players so you don't get killed if a team has a bad game and gets pounded.

There will be an 11 man starting lineup consisting of both offensive and defensive players with a bench of 6 reserve players.

Any other details you may be curious about, feel free to ask.

You can find and join the league by visiting the link below, or just search for 'Fourth and Forever' in the custom leagues.

Fourth and Forever Home - NFL.com - Free Fantasy Football (http://fantasy.nfl.com/league/391368)

Thank you.

Same here. I'm looking forward to getting this thing rollin'.

We still have openings. If you're thinking about playing fantasy football this season, get in on this new keeper league.

Part of me wants to do this, because I've never done keeper or position defense. Another part of me thinks I'll embarrass myself, which will hurt since I'm usually pretty decent at traditional leagues. :D

I thought it would be interesting to have individual players vs an entire team defense based on one NFL team getting clobbered and ruining the game for your fantasy team.

FWIW I haven't been in a league that used individual players for a number of years. The last league I was in that allowed this option was back when Sandbox was still a free to play site.

Just something different that I thought might set the league apart from the thousands of other leagues out there.

We'd sure like to have you onboard!

It's going to be fun. Live draft, 11 man starting lineup using individual defensive players. Keeper settings are still up for debate as well. Trying to decide how many keeper players to allow. I want to have enough to roll your core / favorite players over without hurting the next year's draft.

There is also an option to allow draft pick trading, which I am trying to wrap my mind around.

Sounds about right. I originally had it set to 5, then recently changed to 3. 4 sounds like a happy medium.

Sounds good. Thanks for joining. It'll be a lot of fun, I think.

Just so you guys know, you can change your team name and logo by clicking on the 'my team' tab on the tool bar at the top of the league table. From there it'll open your team screen. Click on 'edit settings' from the tool bar and you'll see the options to edit logos and team names among some other options for your viewing preferences.

Us sox fans have to stick together :-)

A quick question:

I am definitely free next week to do the draft, but is it possible to move it back. I would hate to see somebody (especially me!) draft someone who gets injured during the preseason.

I'm more inclined to the 21st. Part of the fun is to see if your dream team can even make it to the regular season unscathed.

I've got Matthew Stafford on my other fantasy team. Needless to say I'm already holding my breath to see if he makes it to week 1.

I can definitely see the benefits to both sides here. There is a discussion going on about this via league page and I started a poll in regards to this as well that can be found on the right side of the league table.

Thanks for the input.

Sad thing was, I found my Culpepper Dolphins jersey today and thought to myself, "...I'm actually nostalgic for Daunte. That's how sad we are."

Although I remember back in 2003 or 2004, I forget which, I drafted Culpepper in the first round and everyone laughed at me. He took me to the championship game and I looked like a damn genius.

I keep wondering how much better we would have been if Pennington had been able to stay healthy. After Henne put up another abysmal performance I'm hoping they'll give the guy a call. Worst thing that happens is he tears his shoulder up again and we're back where we started.

The Dolphins qb situation is definitely dire but to put it somewhat in perspective, Jay Cutler is the best quarterback the Bears have had since Erik Kramer. And I mean that without a hint of irony *sigh*

I hate to be that guy, but I have another suggestion. I was looking at the point total leaders last year and the way things are set up is the top 25 players are all qbs. Chad Henne, Mark Sanchez and Ryan Fitzpatrick all have more points than Arian Foster.

I have a two pronged suggestion to balance things a bit.
1) Make completions worth only one point.
As it stand now, Peyton Manning made 900 points off pass completions which I think throws the scoring out of whack.
2) Give RBs one point per carry.

Without these suggestions Peyton Manning has 1,082 points and Arian Foster has 451.

With these suggestions Peyton Manning would have 632 points and Foster would have 778.

If you think that swings things too much in the rbs favor Mccoy would only have 543 points in the new system, and Mcfadden 555.

Thoughts? I am just hoping for a bit more balance in the league. It doesn't seem right to have average to terrible qbs having more points in the league than top tier rbs.

I am actually looking for 'that guy' to add input into the development of the league. I organized things as an outline for how I'd personally like to see a league run. That is definitely not written in stone and was actually hoping to gain insight from others in regards to the fine details to iron everything out.

Hello again fellas!

With the 2012 season kickoff only a few weeks away, I wanted to start getting the league organized for it's second season. I am trying to find out how many returning owners we will have so I know how many replacement owners (hopefully none  ) I will need to find.

The league is a keeper so you will be able to hang onto 4 of your players from last year.

Please respond here or on the league board so I know you're in for the sophomore season.

Looking forward to another fun year of football action!

Just wanted to give an update so everyone knows where we stand at the moment.

So far I have positive feedback from all but 4 of our original owners and 2 (maybe 3) possible replacement owners. I want to give the original guys a few more days to respond before awarding the franchises to new owners.

I think with pre-season kicking into full gear this weekend, it's probably about the time people start thinking about fantasy 2012. It's only fair to give them an opportunity to claim their team.

Hang tight and I'm pretty sure we will have something for those interested.

Thanks for the interest so far!

We could still use a couple active owners. I have sent out a couple emails to the league and have yet to get a response from a few teams. At this point I am ready to start awarding teams to interested new owners.

If you have any questions about the league or available teams / rosters, let me know.

I want a full boat of active owners when the 2012 season kicks off.

Thanks!

Thank you for the compliment on the league and for your response letting me know you won't be available this time around. The same thing goes for you, if you have the time next year, you have an open invitation back.

On that note, while we are losing some solid players, we have also picked up a couple as well. So, all is not lost.
