Prayers/Good Thoughts (Update: He's moved on to a better place.)

Hey guys, I'm not a religious guy, but anything would be welcome.

My father in law was just diagnosed with stage-4 colon cancer. The cancer has already metastasized to his liver, and he had undergone recent surgery to attach a colostomy bag since his colon is essentially blocked by the tumor.

The doctor has given him less than six months left, and they're expecting the cancer to spread further (to the blood and the bones).

My wife has been completely devastated by this news, and it sucks that I've been in Singapore for the past month or so. I will be heading back home to Manila this Saturday.

I'm just hoping that when my father in law eventually succumbs, it's as painless as possible.

He was admitted to the hospital again today. Seems like the tumors in his liver are giving him problems.

I'm not sure what to expect when I get home. This was a man who was so full of life and I don't think I'll be prepared to see him in his current state.

Just be strong and tell him what he means to you. The thing that sucks about most eulogies is that the person they are about never gets to hear it.

As an update: He passed away Tuesday night. We had just discharged him from the hospital on Monday and he was able to see his only grandchild (my wife's brother's son) for the last time. I suppose that he was just waiting to spend an entire afternoon playing with him before he was finally at peace with everything and decided that it was time to let go.
