Tonights episode of "Wipeout" on ABC is the first episode of the season where I am credited as a full editor. I edited the last two acts of the show known as the wipeout zone.

Ive been working on the show for about 6 months as the lead assistant editor, which basically means im in charge of a small team of post production techs, as well as the junior editor. For the final two episodes I got to do the job of a full editor and it went well enough that I received the bump in title.

This is by far the highest rated show Ive edited on so im genuinely excited that its airing tonight.

First of all, congrats on the promotion. I don't watch it every week, but we certainly enjoy it when it's on. Good summer entertainment.

Secondly, any good anecdotes on Jill? ;)

My latest show had its website go live today and we air June 7th at 8. Its a UK dating/game show called "Take Me Out" that got brought to the states. Im not going to promote every show I work on via FOFC but this one means something to me....it got me in the union and will get me health insurance so i would REALLY like it to get a 2nd season. In addition all of my bosses and coworkers are super cool so i want it to do well if only because of that.

Sweet!!! Congrats again and looking forward to seeing how this pans out in the Dynasty forum. ;)

That gives me the idea for the worst dynasty ever. It alternates between me not being able to say what I did because it would violate a huge NDA and saying things like "today I got better at doing complicated animattes" which nobody would care about but me.

Ah, but, would the NDA still be applicable after whatever it was that you worked on, aired?

Hey, there's always those stories where you had to do a bunch of reconforming at the last minute and you had to use mixed video formats because the director really really liked the look of this particular footage that he got from his friend Otto in Germany. :)

Lets just say that anything people actually want to know about is almost certainly covered by my NDA even after we air. Ive been doing reality shows so people always want to know the "Secrets" and "whats real and what isnt". Even if it wasnt technically illegal for me to talk about i certainly wouldnt risk putting it online. usually I just answer with "Would you REALLY want to know if something you enjoyed was completely true or not?" If theres just a funny story Im more likely to tell my friends about it but its usually nothing more revealing than stuff I know the contestants/talent tell everyone they meet.

As for random mixed formats that happens all the time and I hate it. Theres a new tape format seemingly every month and they all work slightly different on the post end.

No, I hear you on the NDAs. We usually get released from most parts of an NDA after something has been released. Certain, 'inside' secrets though, I can neither confirm nor deny.

I put the 'reality' shows in the same category as 'professional wrestling'. That's why there always seems to be an inordinate amount of people that cause drama or act up on those shows. Sorry if I ruined it for anyone. :D

Oh man, tape formats and the damn codecs. I would be so happy if those got standardized.
