So, I have had a server set up to back up my home and laptop PC's. A month ago, things started to go a little haywire, backups started flaking out, and random restarts. I thought that it was a simple hardware issue and have replaced the memory and the motherboard for it.

It boots up, runs my magic jack good, stays connected to the internet now and it all seemed like it was running back up to speed. Until I started trying to back up my systems again. The systems are getting part way through and then the back up service stops. The only message I get is that the backup server failed. I was only able to get 1 of 5 computers backed up.

I spent most of today trouble shooting. I've run chkdsk on all of the pc's and laptops with no problems. I've run hard disk tests on the server drives and others on my other computers. Those all checked out ok.

I've repaired the backup files at least twice with no luck. I've cleaned out the backlog of files that were stored as well. Still no luck.

At this point I'm down to a complete reinstall and re back up everything else. I was worried that one of the disks might be failing, as it's really the only other explanation that I can find, but when I ran the diagnostic it came back alright and the server says they are alright too.

So, what is the next step? Anyone have any other ideas of what might be causing my problems?
