Some gray area with this question for sure but looking for bands (or even individual albums) where the band/album is much better than the "popular" songs from that band or album.

The Deftones - "Engine No. 9" and "7 Words" were the two most popular songs off Adrenaline, but they were my 2 least favorite off that album.

Alice In Chains - "Man in the Box" is probably their most popular song, and one of my least favorite. Also never cared for "Heaven Beside You" either.

Slaughter is better than what they'd get credit for if you only know Fly to the Angels

The most popular song of Pink Floyd, the greatest band ever, could be "Money", a song I detest and find unlistenable. I have 150+ songs of Pink Floyd and find just about all of them awesome except for their allegedly most popular.

Teency sidebar but ... I would have figured Another Brick was considered inarguably their "biggest" song.

Frank Zappa was much better than Valley Girl.

I would say The Kinks with "You really Got Me." while I'd say its inarguably a great song, it stands out as being from a completely different band.

This may be the whitest thing I'll ever say, but...

Alien Ant Farm is better than "Smooth Criminal" would have you think.

If you checked out some of your favorite bands on iTunes, they have a list of the most popular downloaded tracks. Seems like it would work well for this

Shiny Happy People would be my example.

Frank Zappa was much better than Valley Girl.

Definitely no doubt about that..

For a more mainstream band Queen's most popular song is arguably We will rock you / We are the champions and not even in my top 25 in their catalog. (I know Bohemian Rhapsody is up there too, but the former has been a staple until soon after it's release)

I'm a big David Gray fan and I'm not a big fan of "Babylon," the song he is most famous for. That's partly because it was so overplayed in 2001-2003, though.

I'm not a big Dead fan, but they're an easy answer. I think their big hit single was Touch of Grey.

Barenaked Ladies are far better than "One Week" and "If I Had $1,000,000" would have you believe.

White Zombie's La Sexorcisto is still one of my favorite all time metal albums but Thunderkiss 65 is the song I am most likely to skip over.
