Sad but true, particularly science, math, and economics. I wish there was more home ec as there is a lot more room for growth there and, again, something silly about life skills which has a wealth of possibilities

Don't even get me started on English.

I love The Oatmeal. The creator just released a book and it's hilarious.

I've found some of The Oatmeal funny at times I guess, but there are some who think the guy is a misogynistic asshole (http://thesocietypages.org/socimages/2010/08/26/collective-support-for-the-dehumanization-of-sex-workers/) (likes to throw the term "retard" around a lot too). Now, folks on that blog can be a little touchy at times, but there's some evidence there that they might have a point here.

Wow, I hadn't seen that comic before. It's certainly in poor taste at the very least.

If people are tremendously upset over "I paid for a hooker, but I'm going to make her do things other than have sex with me", wait until they discover the rest of the internet...

I now want to pay for a hooker for the sole purpose of building a couch fort. That sounds awesome.

Whoa, whoa. Slow down there. Someone who is trying to be funny on the internet is a total asshole and all that entails? Tell me more about this groundbreaking news.

Seriously - I would think the hooker wouldn't mind doing something else. I fail to see what the issue is with this. People can get awfully touchy over nothing.

If she's touchy about her weight, they can change the name to Whore Hill. Better?

Not so sure about the birdfeeder one (being forced to stand still with seed jammed down your throat while birds shit on you? sounds fun). Or really the general attitude of "Well, I PAID for you, so for this time I own you to degrade you how I wish." I get that he's taking a jab at nerds and that's supposed to be the joke. But I can see the other side of it too.

Really though, I think what might be telling about the guy is not the cartoon itself, but his e-mail reactions to criticism.

Remember, guys, the whore is only to be used for friction and targeting.

The majority of his comics are pretty funny, though. People can find something objectionable in pretty much any comic's work, cartoon, standup or otherwise.

Reading that blog makes me want to read The Oatmeal purely out of spite. And BTW, the comic posted on that blog is hilarious.

If by "telling" you mean "telling me I totally agree with his point and the tone he uses," you've nailed it.

"LOL - I hate those dumb filthy hookers! We should round them up in vans and salvage their organs for tasty hooker sandwiches.

I'd eat that. Sounds dee-lish.

We should also round up imbeciles who are offended by satirical comics about prostitution. Especially when that same website features comics about microwaving hamsters, physically abusing dolphins, throwing the elderly off tall buildings, and cannibalizing children. Killing animals and kids = A-OK. Making a joke about using a hooker for Mario Kart = OMG THE HUMANITY! HOOKERS ARE PEOPLE TOO!

Again, you suck at funny. You suck giant, bloated balls through a tiny straw. I hope a seagull poops on your car window, you brain-damaged cricket.

It's not just that part but the entire exchange. Rather than just dismissing the e-mail and letting the matter drop, or just responding professionally, the guy lashes out and calls the woman basically an unfunny retard. I still think he comes off as an immature dick, but I guess that's the audience he's going for.

Oh - I must have missed those ones. Honestly...didn't see them. That's a little much.

Fair enough. The writers on that blog you posted come off as self-important, humorless, political-correctness fetishists, but I guess that's the audience they're going for.

Agreed on that as well, fwiw.
