Any advice? I know of one place local to me that carries a few different shoes (where I've shopped successfully for the shoes I have), and I can find scattered pairs here and there online.
I have tennis shoes and I have a pair of black dress shoes and a pair of boat shoes and a pair of "everyday brown" shoes, but what I'm really looking for now is a pair of boots. Not winter boots, and not work boots, but like "dress boots" if you will.
Only I can't find really any that come in anything over 4E. I've found one pair on Amazon that are listed as "farm boots" but that look passable maybe.
And there's a company (Hitchcock) that has a catalog and a website and has some VERY nice ones ($300). I guess I'm just hoping there's something in the middle so that I don't have to pay $300 for a damn pair of shoes.

Yep. 5E. Most of your traditional "extra wide" or "wide" places only go out to 3E, or occasionally 4E, because that's what the commonly-used commercial molds do.
Will check out this Shoe Shack.

i have wide feet. i generally have to buy the "wide" shoes that are 1+ size to big to fit my feet comfortably. non wide shoes kill my feet. even then all my shoes end up busting at the sides

I used to be the same way. Finally I went to a store that knew how to help me and I gotta tell you - from someone who used to be where you are...it's a world of difference having a shoe that's actually made to be wide enough. Can't recommend it enough.

I regularly buy mine at Hitchcock, and have yet to be disappointed on quality. They do circulate coupon codes online every so often to get 10-20% off their catalog prices, you can check the usual haunts like fatwallet. I tend to wait on something until a good discount comes along.
I have yet to find anyone else who really caters to the wide shoe customer anywhere near as well.

Yeah - I have my eyes on these Quik - Street And Dress - Best - Best Boots - Hitchcock Wide Shoes for Men (http://www.wideshoes.com/catalog.cfm?page=street-and-dress_best_best-boots)
but $300 is steep and I'd kinda rather not pay that much, ya know? Will look for coupon codes.
