Okay dumb question here. I have a new laptop and the Windows auto update feature does not seem to be working. When I try to do the Windows update it just sits and says it is downloading the updates but nothing happens. Any ideas?

How long have they been downloading? Probably a lot of new updates need to be made since it is new. Give it an hour or 2. It should want to download the updates and then ask to restart to install.

Wow really that long? Should I shutoff my antivirus while it is downloading? I will have to give some time later then. Thanks for the advice.

Depends on your internet speed as well I suppose. Some of them updates are big. No need to mess with the antivirus.
