In celebration, I bought the Halo 10th anniversary game yesterday.

Congrats, you crappy, crappy system that basically only played FPSs, a couple of good exclusive American RPGs, and a bunch of games that were available on the PS2 and Gamecube.

Hey, if we're talking about crappy consoles, we gotta bring up the Dreamcast. It was possibly the worst purchase of my life.

I bet I could do a game to game comparison of the first two to three years of the XBox and make it competitive. And, one has to imagine that if the Dreamcast is around for the entire generation, it gets a significant portion of the multiplatform games

Dreamcast was simply a few years too early, a lot of the stuff it pioneered like online play etc. was fulfilled in later generations of devices ...
(that and imho it had some very good games, just never made a big enough splash about them imho - I still prefer the Dreamcast version of Crazy Taxi to any other)

That sounds like a 360 as well.

I bought the xbox a couple years ago even after having the 360. Best money I ever spent as the fishing game I bought with it was hands down the best fishing game I've ever played.

Happy day for me, too, business-wise - although at the time, it was a nightmare.

Happy Birthday. It may not have been the greatest console, but without it there'd be no Xbox360 (which is a damn good console) and no Xbox Live.
As someone that was at MS and in the games division at the time it was launched, it's a particularly proud anniversary for me. It was exciting when we found out MS was going to enter the console realm and we would get to make games for that new platform. And it's one of the few (only?) examples of MS building legit market share in a business where their monopoly on OS had no practical impact in building that business, aside from the financial wherewithal to absorb years of losses.

Hell yeah. I still plug this sucker in a couple times of year and go on a Crazy Taxi tear.
