Alternatives to PayPal?

I hate basically being forced to pay the fees to PayPal for them doing nothing but link up to my eBay account.

Aside from snail-mailing payments, is there a realistic alternative? PayPal used to be free but now to get any functionality out of it, they charge fees for doing nothing but running a website (and protection, etc. blah blah blah).

Amazon payments is (relatively) fee free for now. I expect that to change if it gains traction but I've used it for some stuff on CAG fairly painlessly
