And they liked it. They are 11 and 10.
Itook it easy.Took thinkgs a country at a time. Continent by continent. We played about 3 hours. They learned I hope. We played 6 dice and they would both go at each other with 3 v. 4 odds. Bad in Risk. I made my 11 year old a vassal. :)
My 10 year old did a good job but got way ovextended amd didnt take shots at Australia whichwas week. But she went Europe.
And didnt have a chance with the alliance. ;)

My slow pace left them with lots of learning opportunities. It was great fun.

Kinda cool. I never really learned how to play Risk. I was first exposed to it in the context of "Drinking Risk" in college and never got much of the strategy...still don't get it, actually.

Must have been playing with Russians. Think that's how they tried to win the Cold War.

My kids (17, 12 and 9) are pretty good at Risk and astute enough these days that most matches start with a 'gang up on dad before he can take us out' approach ...

Its a proud day when they stamp you into the dirt and then fight over the remains ;)

They cam to me today wanting to play Risk. So we went again. My 11 year old learned how hard it is to take Europe.

Ah Risk... Out of all the games I've played with the kids, that is not one of them oddly enough.

I played Liberte with my 7 year old yesterday. Today, we played a game of Realm Speak (old AH Magic Realm on the computer) with both the 7 and 9 year old. 9 year old came close to winning with the White Knight, he was short a GT at the end.

There's a lot of places that have Risk available to play free online. I've been doing that periodically throughout the day because of this thread.

Im beginning to realize that I can re-live my youth through this. I am going to get Supremacy. And then work on getting the add-ons. By the time they are 17 and 18 we will be there.
Im getting Civ V for Christmas. I will introduce that to them also.

Sweet. I hope this works.

Loved risk as a teen. Stratego is the game I remember my dad teaching me the most as a kid. Lots of fun.
