I wanted to give a shout out for one my best friends on my little corner of the internet that is FOFC.

Crime novelist Marcus Sakey, who've I've been close friends with going on 20 years now and who I think I've mentioned here before, has a TV show which he both writes and hosts premiering Tuesday night, Dec. 6, at 9 p.m. CST/10 p.m. EST on The Travel Channel. He's written five crime fiction novels.

His show is a travel show based on the shady and infamous crime sites to see at cities around the country. Each episode focuses on a different city and a handful of crimes/criminals committed there.

The debut episode focuses on Chicago and features: serial killer H.H. Holmes, John Dillinger, and the 1968 Democratic National Convention riots.

Good thing you didn't break his nose in high school.

Cool. Sounds like a good idea for a show. And congrats to your friend.

Good show. I especially enjoyed the New York bit where he was dragged around having to try on punk clothing when he was really just trying to ask questions about Sid Vicious and Nancy.

Wonder how it's doing in the ratings?

I'm really enjoying it too. I think the New York episode was my favorite, at least from a writing perspective. He had some great lines in it.

I don't think it's doing too terribly well in the ratings at the moment. He mentioned that the other day, but I am not sure what the expectations were and apparently the Travel Channel people like the show.

Hopefully they'll get a chance at a second season to help build on it.
