Anybody remember these? They used to do them in the late 80s for football and baseball. Then they disappeared and I hadn't given much thought to it considering I am a childless man in his 30s. However, I was milling around Target and happened to see they are back!

Unfortunately, when I go to their website, I don't see plans for any 2012 books. I always liked these better than baseball cards. Here is hoping they keep doing it.

I keep contemplating doing one. I do collect cards anymore, but like you, I always enjoyed the sticker books.

Damn. In primary school the Panini football (soccer) stickers were social currency and one year I managed to complete the set which was a huge deal.

I also remember being incredibly excited whenever I would have a grandparent or aunt come to visit because the couple of pounds they would bring as a gift would buy a few more packets. You guys just made me all nostalgic.

Funny enough I found my old 1990 Panini stickerbook during the winter break. The non-sport ones were cool, too. My favorite of those was Voltron.

I'm pretty sure I've been seeing their NHL books of stickers right next to the cashiers at a grocery store about every year for a long while so I doubt they really disappeared.

And why would you say "no plans for 2012"? They are showing the 2011-12 NHL book and the NFL season that is going on is the 2011 so one would think they will put out the new books only when the new season is around...

Is my memory failing me, or did Topps also have football and baseball albums?

I'm thinking more mid-80s, probably. I seem to recall certain seasons of baseball card packs came with like one or two stickers.

Ya I'm pretty sure the NHL ones have always been around. I loved those things. I could never complete a book, but I remember my brother and I coming within about 30 stickers once or twice.

I think another company might have made them back in the day as well, maybe Opee-Chee? I can't remember, I just have this feeling that at one point the books we bought changed from Company X to Panini when I was about 8 or 9.

My brother worked at a convenience store in the late 80's, and he would let me come in and get like dozens of the sticker packs.

I thought he was paying for them, but as it turns out, he probably wasn't.

I think I did complete one year by sending off for the missing ones. It's probably gone now.
