Gotta take it with a grain of salt but the PSU forums are buzzing that Joe is not expected to make it out of the weekend.

Wow, sad...
Maybe the Penn St job was his reason for living. Things have just fallen apart on him in a hurry.

I'm not shocked by this at all.

Though he brought a lot of it upon himself (and I have some sympathy for the confused old man defense, which I think is legit), he's another victim of Jerry Sandusky. A lot of the kids Sandusky raped will end up living shorter, more difficult lives as well (who knows, there could be a few out there already who have died from suicide/drug ODs brought about by depression/mental issues caused by Sandusky. And he still doesn't have the decency to admit what he's done, to spare the victims the stress of a trial. He's just hanging out every day, free, probably scheming how he can still get some hot boy action with everyone watching him so closely.

Shame that he'll always be remembered in conjunction with Jerry Sandusky. :(

I'm wondering if he was putting off treatment hoping to make it to the offseason and that accelerated everything. He went from fired to "Hey, chemo" in about 3 seconds and chemo knocked my 20-something year old friend on her ass for days on end afterwards. Not conducive to even going to practice to observe.

Agree with this. My best friend was diagnosed with Ewing's Sarcoma in 2008 when he was 22. Chemo absolutely kicked his ass. Interestingly enough, cannabis allowed him to continue treatment without needing to take any of the medication they provided for chemo sickness.

I wish he would have done the right thing years ago so I wasn't so indifferent to this.
Anybody familiar with Onward State? They are saying he passed away on their twitter.

A huge fanboy of your trolling in threads over the years. I find it sad that apparently you're now taking a stand against against people going off topic in a thread.
If you're leading the efforts to prevent trolling and keep discussions on topic I don't know what to think.

SI had nothing other than older story of serious condition
CBS had a breaking news blurb up top, since pulled.
CBS now reporting on sidebar he's off respirator and "near death"

OK, not bad, but the dig wasn't at you, but really at Penn St. thinking that the whole thing would blow over and asking media members to "please restrain their questions to football" the week after this happened.
But, sadly, this is a part of Paterno's life history, I think it will be the first thing he's known for, all the accomplishments will be secondary. And I do mostly blame Sandusky for that.

Shame that he'll always be remembered in conjunction with Jerry Sandusky. :(It's a shame that asshole kept his mouth shut to help save himself/PSU/the team which allowed children to get raped.

Found out this morning that JoePa had passed away. Why would I have needed a tweet the instant that he died? Would it have made any difference in your life this weekend?
PSU was the big rival school when I was a kid and JoePa the only coach I had known for the past 40+ years for that program. RIP.

Didn't Bear die like weeks after his retirement (heart attack?). To the Googles!

Yup. Bear died four weeks after retiring, and a day after "passing" a routine check up. Sometimes, men just live for their job.
