I would have purchased more, but I actually had a large majority of the ones I would have wanted. Otherwise I would have grabbed 100 or so CDs.

Someone noticed these were Sony artists, so if you go into music, the advanced search, the put Sony as the label, it should narrow the list down. Not all albums are that cheap, but it should help narrow it down a little.

Looks like this is a CBS/Sony sale, from what I can tell.

stevew
02-01-2012, 09:37 AM
What's the deal with the digital credit. Looks like it is only 1$ per customer instead of $1 per purchase. that kind of sucks, as I bought 25-30 discs.

I think it's over. People are reporting the prices are back to normal. JUST got my order in.

C.....d......?

Sadly, my CD collection, once my pride and joy, is now largely a dust collecting device.

stevew

Well obviously I'm just going to rip all of them and shove them in a box somewhere.

Same here, except shove them on a shelf.

Most of my order shipped. I think this was more of a quick clearance vs a pricing error.

sterlingice
02-01-2012, 06:43 PM
Sounds like Amazon or one of the warehouses was clearing out of theirs and now all the prices are for other vendors

They just cancelled a bunch of my orders. Looks like I will get about half of what I ordered.

Ksyrup
02-02-2012, 06:33 AM
Motherfuckers reneged on every single fucking one of them. "Pricing error." Canceled my order.

Ksyrup
02-02-2012, 06:39 AM
I don't think I got an email telling me there was a pricing error for every item - in fact, earlier yesterday I got an email telling me one of the items could ship earlier than the others - but the entire order was canceled as of this morning. It doesn't even show on my account history, and the link in the email from yesterday just takes me to a message that the order was canceled. Bastards.

OTOH, I thinnk we've now found the true price point at which CDs will sell, huh? Maybe this was some sort of experiment.

stevew
02-02-2012, 07:03 AM
Looks like anything that didn't ship yesterday was cancelled. No Weird Al. :(. Primarily got "Essential" type CDs. Oh well.

Ksyrup
02-02-2012, 07:04 AM
I got nothing.

stevew
02-02-2012, 07:07 AM
After the prices all went up, I had a bad feeling about items not immediately available to ship.

Ksyrup
02-02-2012, 07:09 AM
I wonder if this wasn't a pricing error, then, but a shipping/supply issue for them based on how many orders they were flooded with. Either way, they suck.

stevew
02-02-2012, 07:15 AM
I got
Journey Greatest Hits
Essential Lou Reed
Essential REO Speedwagon
Bruce Springsteen - Greatest Hits
Tribe Called Quest-The Anthology
Meat Loaf-Bat Out of Hell
Michael Jackson-Number Ones
Michael Jackson 25th Anniversary of Thriller (CD+DVD)
Jeff Buckley-Grace
Essential ELO
Essential Hall and Oates.

02-02-2012, 07:23 AM
I ordered a couple of those and the entire order still got canceled. Huh.

stevew
02-02-2012, 07:25 AM
I still have two orders pending, a Dylan's Greatest Hits and Fugees the Score. They don't appear to be shipping out until tomorrow for delivery on the 7th, so i expect them to get canned.

Ksyrup
02-02-2012, 07:27 AM
I bet this has everything to do with when the order was placed. I got mine in just before the prices changed. I think this is solely a supply issue, not a pricing error. They are motherfuckers.

Kodos
02-02-2012, 07:31 AM
Looks like I only got:

Number Ones
Sold by Amazon.com LLC (Amazon.com) $1.40
Essential Daryl Hall & John Oates
Sold by Amazon.com LLC (Amazon.com) $2.00
Essential Judas Priest
Sold by Amazon.com LLC (Amazon.com) $2.00

Ksyrup

I guess if I cared enough I'd just go download all of these CDs for free. I think I'm more pissed at the how/why they canceled it, not that I won't get any of these CDs.

Most of the stuff I ordered(and was cancelled) was stuff that I had pirated a lifetime ago and was attempting to "make good" by actually purchasing. Oh well.

Ksyrup
02-02-2012, 07:39 AM
I was just looking to cheaply fill in some cracks in my collection legitimately. Most of this kind of stuff I never purchase because I hear the most popular stuff on radio, so why buy it? I'm really only bummed about not getting a couple of old Aerosmith albums and the Byrds collection, all of which I owned on vinyl once upon a lifetime ago.

Easy Mac
02-02-2012, 08:34 AM
All of mine were canceled. If only I had Amazon Prime still, I likely would have gotten some.

I'm upset, but not really angry.

Here's my thing though: I think a reasonable case could be made that these CDs sell for this price all of the time. All of the CDs are the ones that are available for a penny at Columbia House. I know the times I've used that service, I've combined enough deals to get about 40 CDs for $50, which is roughly the same for today.

I think the prices shown are practically what Amazon could sell them for and still make a small profit.

sterlingice
02-02-2012, 10:54 AM
I can't honestly see how Amazon can buy/burn and ship a CD at $1 apiece and turn any sort of profit. Digital doesn't have any overhead like that but even then we're talking about a pricing model with that much for a song not that much for an entire CD.

I figured they were just burning off part of their inventory, trying to recoup anything for dead inventory. Which is what they might have been doing, and just relied on canceling any orders afterward that went over the amount of inventory they had on hand.

I have prime, which is why i probably got any of mine shipped.

I take that back. 7 Bob Dylan and 2 Simon and Garfunkel shipped. 9 Cds for $6.30. I guess I can't really complain too much.

Yeah, the price mistake excuse is BS. Definitely too low inventory for some of the disks.

A little sad, I was really hoping Graceland and The Best of Hall and Oates would ship.

5 packages just arrived to deliver 11 CDs. And we wonder why the terrorists hate us.
