Trick Dickle was the fastest in practice, but finished a disappointing 31st in qualifying for the Daytona 500. When asked the reason for his disappointing performance during qualifying, he winced slightly and then ran for the nearest bathroom...

The two dominant cars for the last half of the race were the two who ended up battling it down to the checkered flag. Benton Gale held off a strong challenge from Kyle Kappe down the stretch to take the win in the Daytona 500.
The race only featured 3 cautions, but those cautions knocked a lot of top cars from contention. Ace Idol had the strongest car early on but was caught back in the pack before a wreck and suffered some damage, knocking him a lap down and out of contention. David Gonzalez, Alejandro Murrieta, Kerri Kong and Aemon Snow were all knocked out in a lap 32 crash. Chris Snow's day ended early with a broken valve, Trick Dickle was knocked out with a fuel leak and Dan Schoonover was knocked out in a wreck on lap 135.

A terrific day for Dumbo Racing as our two rookie drivers put their talents to good use. First, Nick Harold had a big day moving from 29'th to a 16'th place finish and even found his way to the lead for one lap. Cash Bradley, starting out of the 11 spot, fought his way to a top 5 finish, leading 7 laps, and scoring 160 points in the Chase.

Well at least we know Topaw racing can qualify well, now we just have to finish :)
Surprised that first wreck didn't take more people out as tight as the pack was. Good season opening race.
Disappointing finish after leading 29 laps for Kevin Kong, but still better than getting caught up in a wreck like teammate Kerri.

A mixed day for Ninth Circle Holdings.
Helen Wheels accomplished her usual pattern of mediocre qualifying, a great race day, and a bad last lap. She lost 3 positions after the white flag flew to finish in 7th, but still gained 26 positions on her qualifying spot.
Rip Lickingood's #07 Vanilla Coke Chevy was caught in one of the day's cautions, but rode out the damage to a mid-table finish.
New drivers can still get into the series. You would be able to start at race #3. I have actually already run the 2nd race, trying to get a few ahead so I will be able to post them on fairly regular schedule.
Any new drivers would still have a shot at making the chase due to the wildcard spots.
It was a mediocre day for Cannon Pace and #5 car. He's not much of a super speedway driver so for him to stay mid pack was about all we could hope for the at CMP Racing. Hopefully he will be able to break out at when we get to tracks better suited to his skills.

PF Racing had a so-so day...Elliot Foley had some changes made to his car after a weak practice and I thought Andrew Foley would be the better of the two to start. Not so, as Elliot finishes with a top 10 and Andrew finishes 7 laps back in 25th. Still early in the year, but I'd rather see them both in the middle of the pack than at opposite ends like that.

Trick Dickle and Kevin Kong completed dominated the race this afternoon as the two nearly lapped the entire field, leaving only 6 cars on the lead lap at the end. It was Kevin who led the most laps but it was Trick who took the lead and then held off a challenge from Kevin on the final lap to take the win. Mustafa Henderson was 3rd, David Ginsberg 4th and Bo Duke finished 5th.
The race was unusual in the fact that there were no cautions. That allowed Trick and Kevin to continue to increase their lead the entire race.

Luke Duke took the pole and dominated the early running of the Richmond 400 before getting into a pit road accident while he was the leader. He later on would get collected in another wreck and despite leading for most of the first half of the race he would finish 29th. David Gonzalez took advantage of Luke's troubles and dominated the final half of the race leading 194 laps en route to an easy win. Ace Idol, Dan Schoonover, Andrew Foley and Chris Snow rounded out the top 5.

The cars obviously had a great day. Can't say that much about the drivers but what else do you expect from a couple of good ol boys? A pit road crash isn't indicative of a quality effort. Lots of wrecks, but it looks like it was a gearbox that put us out of the race. Rough to have a top 5 in the chase and a bottom 5 as well. It'll take some more good luck and consistency to stay/improve.
Wrecks happen, especially when slower cars don't get out of your way. Just move over and let us blow by and you can go back about your business. :)

Rip Lickingood continues to be caught in the accidents of the other poor drivers; this time, it's his suspension that gave way.

He moved up from his 20th starting position to lead 236 laps and dominate the last half of the Coca-Cola 600 and win his 2nd race this season. Aemon Snow made a strong charge at the end but it wasn't enough to overtake Trick. Once again the Snow's finish back-to-back as Chris Snow finished 3rd after starting 25th. Kevin Kong was strong yet again as he finished 4th and Nick Phillips bounced back from a terrible Richmond race with a top 5. David Ginsberg, who had the strongest car early on finished 6th followed by Luke Duke, Andrew Foley, Mustafa Henderson and Ken Schoonover.

What more can you say about Trick Dickle right now. Once again, in a two car battle down the stretch it was Trick who had the strongest car and took home the win. This time he battled with Nick Phillips all day long as Nick led 111 laps, and Trick led 103. But Nick's car faded after the final restart, and despite a minor yellow flag accident that gave Trick's car a bit of damage no one could catch him as he went on to take his 3rd checkered flag of the season. Aemon Snow was 2nd followed by Mustafa Henderson, Cannon Pace and Phillips.
http://img59.imageshack.us/img59/9703/phxrace.png
Trick Dickle is starting to pull away a bit at the top of the points. Mustafa Henderson has been consistent all year and sits in 2nd. Aemon Snow, Ace Idol and Cannon Pace round out the top 5. Andrew Foley and Bo Duke sit in a tie for the final Chase spot and Benton Gale and David Gonzalez hold the two wildcard spots currently.

From the Charlotte video: Ninth Circle is a bit more disappointed coming away from North Carolina after seeing Rip's 07 Vanilla Coke car running in the top 10 early on, and Helen's 6 Discount Tire car running in the top 5 fairly late.
In Phoenix, Rip overcame a poor qualification, picking up 14 spots to finish 20th, but he is still struggling mightily this season. Helen once again waxed toward the front of the pack, but waned as the race went on, finishing 16th. (I thought the heat in Phoenix would suit her!) She is one position outside the Chase as of now.

Heading into the last lap, Deacon Palmer, found himself in 4th place, 3rd car in the bottom line. This is certainly Ninth Circle's strongest showing of the season. Rip Lickingood got a chance to show his superspeedway prowess, qualifying 4th and holding the lead until the bitter end. That narrowly missed win was a blow to Rip's chances to make the Chase as a wildcard. A bit of Dr Jekel/Mr Hyde from Dixieland Racing today. Both cars qualified very high, and there were big expectations. The General Lee ran strong, never lead, but 3rd place for Bo Duke is his second top 5 finish.
The Good Ol Boy Home Depot car just gave up. Luke lead for 10 laps of the race but fell way off to finish after qualifying 3rd. Ouch! That can't happen!
So now Bo sits in 14th, all of 6 points out of the race points. Luke falls way back 26th. He is nearly 100 points behind the 10 spot.

Alejandro Murrieta and his crew stole today's Brickyard 400 with terrific pit strategy and came away with the unlikely win. All but two drivers, Murrieta and Nick Harold had to pit with 17 laps to go but Murietta and Harold stayed on the track during those green flag stops and stretched their fuel to the absolute last second to finish 1st and 2nd while Nick Phillips, who dominated most of the day, had to settle for 3rd. Points leader Trick Dickle was 4th and Chris Snow will vault back into the Chase with a 5th place finish. One major wreck knocked out 7 cars on lap 9.
http://img42.imageshack.us/img42/6766/indyrace.png
Trick Dickle holds a 100 point lead over 2nd place Mustafa Henderson, that lead however will be wiped out when the Chase starts. Nick Phillips its in 3rd and Chris Snow jumps back to 4th in the standings. David Ginsberg sits 5th followed by Aemon Snow, Ace Idol, Kevin Kong, Helen Wheels and Erik Flamebeard. Those ten would be in the Chase if the season ended up now along with wildcards of Deacon Palmer and Benton Gale.

Ninth Circles recap:
(from the Talledega video)
I can't believe Rip went high on the last lap! He absolutely could have held others off on the low line, and he'd be in the pack of drivers outside the Top 10 with 1 win and a chance to qualify for the Chase as a wild-card.
(from Indy qualifying)
WOOOOO FRONT ROW
(from the race)
Good to see Helen and Rip get time near the front in the 6 and 07 cars, respectively. Equally frustrating to see Nick Phillips pull away from the pack time and again. 10th and 11th place finishes are respectable, and good enough to get Helen back into the Chase, but still somehow disappointing given the strength of Ninth Circle's cars in qualification.
(from the wreck video)
Isn't it a little insensitive to show the dash cams for the two drivers who were surely killed in that accident?! (RIP, Benton Gale and Bo Duke.)

YEAH BABY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Alright since I'm still stuck way back in the points it looks like I need another win to get myself into the chase. I probably won't be able to pass those other guys with 1 win. The 12 car is pretty solid on short tracks so hopefully we'll fare well at Myrtle Beach. We need win #2. And we should be decent at road courses so Watkins Glen is another possibility. If I can't get to victory lane in one of those two it's probably over cause we have struggled mightily at speedways.

Surprise Surprise, look who wins again. Trick Dickle picks up win #4 and is dominating the series this season. This wasn't as dominating a win for Trick as he rode in the top ten most of the race but didn't take the lead until the final 50 laps but that's all that matters. Nick Harold had the dominate car early and led 118 laps before fading to 17th. Mustafa Henderson led 75 laps but struggled late and finished 25th. Bo Duke was strong as well as he led 88 laps but ended up in 10th.
http://img41.imageshack.us/img41/1760/10myrtlerace.png

Phillips Racing teammates Nick Phillips and Mustafa Henderson sit 2nd and 3rd followed by the surging Andrew Foley and the steady David Ginsberg. Ace Idol continues to be consistent and sits in 6th followed by Chris Snow who drops a bit after a poor finish, despite having a strong car at Dakota. Helen Wheels is back in the top ten at 8th. Helen Wheels with a great Sunday, coming from her #33 starting spot to finish 4th and finally log a Top-5 finish. That gives her #6 Discount Tire car a 36-point cushion in Chase qualification.
Rip Lickingood, for his part, qualified much better, in the 8th position, and stayed strong on his way to a 9th-place finish. He's slowly climbed the standings to 25th. A couple of early wrecks drastically changed the landscape of this race. (Hopefully I can get the video to work for those). Chase contenders Nick Phillips and Deacon Palmer were knocked out of the race in those wrecks and other contenders such as Trick Dickle and Bo Duke were left with badly damaged cars. The few who survived the wrecks unscathed were able to pull away from the pack and dominate the last half of the race. In the end it was a two car breakaway with non-Chase driver Kyle Kappe holding off Travis Elkin for the win. Elkin was the highest finishing Chase driver in 2nd while Helen Wheels was 5th, Andrew Foley 6th, Mustafa Henderson 7th, Dexter Jackson 8th and Ace Idol 10th.

For most of the day it was a two car battle between Nick Phillips and Chris Snow. After a caution Snow and Phillips got onto a different pit schedule. Ten other drivers were on the different pit schedule with Snow and after Phillips and the rest of the field had to pit Snow and the other ten drivers were able to stay out and stretch out the fuel mileage. Snow had no challenges as he took the win. 2nd through 7th were other drivers who stayed out, Phillips was the first who made the final pit stop in the final order. 9th through 12th stayed out and Trick Dickle in 13th was the 2nd car in the order who made the last stop.

After the win Chris Snow jumps up the lead. Ace Idol sits in 2nd followed by Helen Wheels, Trick Dickle and Kerri Kong.

A 16th-place finish is not what the doctor ordered considering Helen qualified 8th, but it seems that she was in the unlucky pit group. She's also only 7 places or so behind the Chase lead -- not too shabby.
Here is the video from Daytona that I was finally able to get to work.

NEXT!
Damn one of the worst races of the year. Not a fan of the DNF.

Another consistent finish for Ace, liking our position with 3 races left..
Race #18 will be up later tonight.

Bo Duke did everything he could today to keep himself in the running for the title. He led the majority of the final half of the race and took the easy victory while most of the rest of the Chase field faltered. Deacon Palmer in 4th and Nick Phillips in 10th were the only other Chase drivers in the top ten. Ace Idol, Andrew Foley, Dexter Jackson, Mustafa Henderson, Trick Dickle, Chris Snow and Travis Elkin all failed to finish.

Ace Idol takes the lead with only 2 races remaining but holds a very small lead over the rest of the field. It's still anyone's championship to win.

Wow, never would have expected to jump into the lead with a DNF 23rd place.......no complaints here!
