The 16 proud warriors enter the arena, banners flying, horses biting at the bit as they smell the tension in the arena. The crowd proudly standing in silence, honoring those who enter this field competition. For though it is just a friendly competition there is real danger. Even in sport accidents can happen and each warrior here knows that a wrong step, a low or high lance at the wrong time could mean crippling wounds, or even death.

As the fanfare ends the Jousters move to their tents to await their turn in the lists. The Grande Tournament of the United States is about to BEGIN!

We have a field of 16 for our opening event. It will be single elimination. Each Round will consist of a tilt of 8 lances. Total scores at the end of each round will determine the Jouster who advances. Tie scores will be determined by the Jouster with the single highest scoring pass.

Scoring for this event:

1 point for striking your opponent between the neck and waist
5 points for breaking your lance between the neck and waste
10 points for unhorsing your opponent
-5 points for a blow to the head (penalty, we do try to protect our Competitors
20 points for knocking out your opponent. making him unable to continue due to injury.

Injury Chart (roll 2d6 if unhorsed to see if you suffer an injury and its extent)
2 - Death (Player must create a new rider entirely)
3 - Severe Injury (knocked out of this event, must miss NEXT event)
4 - Knocked unconscious, Out of event.
5-11 - No major issues, Jouster may continue

Round 1 Tilt 1 Deacon Palmieri vs David Ginsberg

Pass 1: The horses launch themselves forward, Deacon has some trouble getting his mount rolling but in the end gets up a good head of steam. As the two meet the lances crash off armor. Deacon is STRUCK and flies off the right side of his horse, face first into the dirt! An UNHORSING on the FIRST PASS!! Ginsberg is elated.

Tournament officials rush to Deacon's aid to find that he is still fit and eagerly remounts his horse and heads to the list for another pass.

10-0 Ginsberg!

Pass 2: Ginsberg, spurred to action with such a fantastic start bursts down the list at ridiculous speed this will surely help him unhorse his opponent if he can strike! The Jouters come together and Deacon STRIKES but does not break his lance. Ginsberg's lance was parried to teh side by Deacon. Deacon gets on the scoreboard!

10-1 Ginsberg!

Pass 3: As the men come together they both try to aim a bit too low. Both jousters miss the mark. No Points!

10-1 Ginsberg

Pass 4: Ginsberg's mount seems to have him at an advantage, getting him on top of Deacon before the other man is quite ready. Lances crash and Deacon once again is rolled off his horse and into the sand!! Another unhorsing for Ginsberg!! Deacon amidst the crach and burn failed to strike once more.

The tournament aids again check out Deacon for injuries and once more he is ready to Joust!!

20-1 Ginsberg!

Passs 5: Deacon seems to have mastered his animal this time as the competitors come together almost dead center of the list. Both lances strike, both lances shatter.....and BOTH Jousters FALL! Talk about a metal Meltdown! pieces fly everywhere! The medical teams rush into to assist our Athletes. Both jousters bounce to their feet (with some help) and get right back on their mounts!!

30-11 Ginsberg

Pass 6: The horses breathe heavily. The Jousters spit blood from bitten tongues and cheeks during falls. The sweat drips from their brows as the combatants lunge forward once more. CRASH the lances come together, Deacon Shatters his upon the waistline of GInsberg. Ginsberg strikes but the force of Deacon's blow lets Ginsberg's lance bounce away unbroken.

31-16 Ginsberg!

Pass 7: As the men come together this time Something seems to happen to Ginsberg, his Lance rises and misses completely!! Deacon however lands his Lance dead on and it explodes into shards of kindling. Ginsberg rocks backwards but the trot of his mount bounces him straight back upright, he STAYS mounted!

31-21 Ginsberg!

Pass 8: This is it, this pass will determine our first victor. The horses sense the tension and launch full speed down the list. Both men lower their lances in unison, they STRIKE! Both Lances Shatter! Ginsberg is Unhorsed!!!! Deacon has closed the gap, but since Ginsberg scored 5 he has to have knocked him out to win, alas that is not to be as GInsberg LEAPS up on his own and charges furiously down the list trying to get at Deacon. Not sure what set him off but the pure rage in his face was visible to everyone!

Final Score: David Ginsberg 36, Deacon Palmieri 31

statistics:

Deacon - 5 Strikes, 4 broken Lances, 2 Unhorsings
Ginsberg - 5 Strikes, 4 Broken Lances, 3 Unhorsings

Since Both Competitors unhorsed the other no Horses are lost.

What a MATCH!!

Awesome bout - well played both of you.

PS - Just to clarify something Sir Cumstance will of course be using his personally modified lance with a large net at the end of it ....

Some jealous people have claimed its just a fishing net on a long pole, but the more kingly amongst you will realise that its simply a more noble and efficient way of tangling up an opponents horse than bludgeoning them with a stick ...

This weaponry is vital in ensuring the three most important things in any tournament - (1) Sir Cumstance wins, (2) He does so without getting injured, (3) He gets to the bar before any other competitor - I'm sure you all agree these are vital components in the success of the tournament and will concur with the inclusion of this weapon in the coming jousts ;)

Tilt #2

Crimson Duke and Gavin the Gold meet at the list and shake hands before mounting their horses and heading to their respective ends of the arena. The next pairing is about to BEGIN!!!

Pass 1: The Crimson Duke saw what speed did to help the riders in the first tilt and seems to be spurring his mount on hard. he reaches Gavin 2/3 the way up the list and the two knights lower their lances.....waaaaay too late. Clean misses by both men. much cursing is heard as they turn about for the second pass.

0-0

Pass 2: Again the coursers charge and again the Duke gets to his target fastest and again....they both miss.

0-0

Pass 3: It seems all the talent went out of the competitors after the first tilt.....Once again Crimson Duke gets a big advantage in speed....once again theymeet 2/3 the way down the list.....once again.... They both miss.

0-0

Pass 4: The Duke's horse is looking winded as the jousters come together dead cener of the lists. Lances fall, Lances shatter! both riders reel backwards but manage to remain mounted!! Broken Lances to both Men!!

5-5

Pass 5: Crimson Duke obviously feels speed is the answer. he veritably beats his mount urging it to ridiculous speeds. As the two come together it appears the speed cost him this time as his lance glances away. Unfortunately for him his lack of balance on the raging horse left him open and he is strike, the lance shatters and the Crimson Duke flies off the back of the moun doing a full reverse somersault before plowing face first into the sand. An unhorsing for Gavin the Gold!!

Medical personnel begin to enter the list only to be growled at loudly by the Duke who hauls himself back onto his horse with no assistance.

15-5 Sir Gavin The Gold!

Pass 6: Once again the hooves pound as they combatants charge down the lists. once again the lances lower towards their targets. Once again, both men miss entirely. A loud groan is heard from the 90,000 fans that overrides the cursing of the two knights.

15-5 Sir Gavin The Gold!

Pass 7: Its clear now that the early rush has hurt the Crimson Duke's Horse, poor thing has nothing left in the tank. Sir Gavin reaches the other side of center first, lances fall and Sir Gavin breaks his lance upon the Duke's breastplate. 1 Point for Sir Gavin. This puts Crimson Duke in a real spot as he is now down 11 points with 1 pass left. he must KO Sir Gavin to advance.

16-5 Sir Gavin the Gold

Pass 8: Both rider take a moment to rest their horses before the final pass. The officials heard them into position and they're OFF! Speeds are all but equal as they charge down the list. Their lances fall in unison and there is a loud SLAM as the Crimson Duke's lance explodes upon impact sending Sir Gavin up and over the center barrier. An unhorsing! Could it be? If Sir Gavin is knocked out the Crimson Duke would advance after trailing the entire Tilt!

Medical aides come running out, the look at Sir Gavin and he rises, albeit slowly to his feet. he is FINE! Sir Gavin holds on to take the Victory!!!!

Final Score:

The Crimson Duke 15
Sir Gavin the Gold 16

Sir Gavin Advances!

Statistics:

The Crimson Duke: 2 Strikes, 2 Lances Broken, 1 unhorsing
Sir Gavin the Gold: 3 Strikes, 2 Lances Broken, 1 unhorsing

Wesley Avenger vs Sterling Symkus

The fans give a rousing cheer as the new riders enter the list. You could feel the disappointment with the previous knights. Can these two men fair better and earn the love of the crowd?

Pass 1: Wesley and Sterling head down the list cautiously, appearing to size one another up. Their lances fall together and Wesley parries away Sterling's jab and snaps his lance against his foes chest. First blood to Wesley!

5-0 Wesley Avenger!

Pass 2: Once again the jousters urge their coursers ahead into battle. Sterling gets a mild advantage in speed as they meet, both lances break, and screams are heard as both men are forcefully throw to the ground. Everyone's attention is riveted on the scene as Wesley rises to his feet and stands over his opponent. A hush falls as he then kneels and prays. Sterling's armor is rent in twain at the neck. Welsey's shattered lance still protruding from the gaping wound just below the left shoulder. His Blood soaks slowly into the sand.

Sterling Symkus has been killed in the second pass of his first world appearance. The entire arena is silent as the medical staff try in vain to revive the once proud Knight to no avail. TAPS is played ceremoniously as Sterling's body is gently taken from the field. A drape is placed over his horse Arklys who leads the ambulance away.

Final Score: Wesley Avenger 25 - 10 over the Late Sterling Symkus.

Sir Cumstance leans over Sterling Symkus's rigid body in the gloom of the abbey where he's been laid to rest.

He knows that in the morning his joust will begin and another body could be placed beside Sterlings, its a solemn moment of thought and solitude.

Leaning over he pats his former opponents body tenderly, a sign of respect .... and also a chance to retrieve the wallet that less sensible people left in his trousers ....... the booze budget has just come out of recession, next rounds on Sterling Symkus ;)

Meanwhile, Dex Morgan is on the case, investigating the homicide scene inside the arena. He hovers over the pool of blood, eyeing every drop, splatter and smudge.

Dex Morgan Inner Monologue: Blood. Sometimes, it sets my teeth on edge. Other times, it helps me control the chaos.

From the corner of his eye, he spots the splintered lance that belonged to Wesley Avenger on that fateful pass. Portions of it were discolored, he noticed. Dex picked up the lance and brought it to his nose. He detected a faint smell of sulfer.

Gunpowder? Someone had a bone to pick with this Sterling guy. Question is, who? Sure, it's easy to suspect Wesley Avenger, but what is he avenging? These guys only met this morning. Could it be Pedro, Sterling's own squire?

Suddenly a sound of a twig snapped behind him. He quickly turned to face the sound and saw what appeared to be a cape disappear from the stands above. It was blue with streaks of gold.

Don't run too far, friend. I've got an itch that I haven't scratched in a long time.

Sir Cumstance strutted off through the underbrush with his cape swirling in the breeze, what was Dex Morgan doing sniffing his fingers - it could be innocent enough, perhaps was attending to personal business and the wind changed direction midstream?

But maybe, just maybe he's someone that needs watching carefully, theres a tournament to win and its possible Dex Morgan had something to do with the death earlier today and is covering his tracks?

At the retreat along the coast a valet walks down the hallway. He stops at the room of Erik Flamebeard and Knocks. He looks down at the bottle of wine he carries. 1254, "Holy shit this must have cost someone a LOT of money." he thinks to himself.

The door is opened by a page to the great knight who takes the wine and closes the door....without tipping. "Assholes" he mutters and walks away.

Inside the room teh page delivers the bottle and the card attached to Erik who opens the card:

"My dear adversary. i send you this gift of drink so that you might enjoy your last evening as a contestant in this event. I truly wish you luck tomorrow. You're going to need it."

Dex Morgan remained at the crime scene to search for more clues. His cellphone rang. It was his sister Deb.

"Dex, what are you doing? Word is out in the department that you're investigating a homicide at the Jousting tournament. You're not supposed to do that. It's not your jurisdiction. You're not in Miami!"

Dex Inner Monologue: There's no such thing as jurisdiction to a killer. Nor to the Code of Harry.

"I'm not doing anything, Deb. Relax. I'm just here for the tournament," Dex replied.

"How did you get into the tournament, anyway? You don't know a thing about jousting, let alone how to ride a horse."

"I dunno. I was told I won a free week long vacation to D.C., the next thing I know they're pitching a timeshare opportunity to me. You should see this resort, Deb. you'll love it here."

"Still doesn't explain how you got into a Jousting Tournament. Whatever. Just be careful." *click*

Deb is right. I don't know what I'm doing here among the knights and lords. Maybe I'm one of the jesters. I guess the joke's on me.

Dex had spent enough time at the crime scene. He figured, if there's a killer to find, he might a well see how the rest of the tournament plays out. The next tilt is a big one. Erik Flamebeard vs Lord Von Snow. Dex decides to keep a sharp eye out.

There is a training horse with wheels and stabilizers available if he wants to get some practice in before hand - its intended for younger squires and his feet might touch the ground somewhat though.

Sir Cumstance is far too proud and knightly to mock him should he feel the need to practice, besides he'll be far too busy guffawing and rolling around on the floor holding his aching sides to be able to say anything ;)

There was an audible grumble among the spectators in the stands as the loudspeakers announced a slight delay in action due to the tragic fall in the previous tilt.

Who knew that one man could have so much blood in them that it would saturate the yard and render it unstable? I did.

Dex Morgan took this as an opportunity to do a little sniffing around before he needed to prepare for his own event down the line. Sure, he could practice on the horse with training wheels to get him accustomed to his own mount, but after looking at the mule, he thought the better of it.

He entered the pub where the contestants gathered to either celebrate their recent win, or drink a cup of humility after a loss. He spotted David Ginsberg, winner of the first event, by himself at the corner table. There was a piece of paper taped to his back.

Dex lightly tapped Ginsberg's boot with his own before joining him at the table.

"Whatcha drinking? Soda?" Dex asked.

"Diet," Ginsberg replied, not looking up.

Doesn't seem the killer type. But the smart ones never do. Especially ones who won't get themselves plastered before they do the dirty work.

"What do you want, Bub?" Ginsberg asked.

"Just looking for a friend. I came by myself."

"Here's a bit of advice, Friend. No one makes friends here. Letting your guard down like that can get you killed."

Dex tilted his head in a quizzical look.

Round TIlt 4:

Erik Flamebeard vs RendeR Von Snow

Theair at the arena is quiet, the apprehension after yesterdays awful events is palpable. Flamebeard teeters groggily toward his horse as Vons Snow sits astride his destrier as if nothing could bother him on such a fine clear day.

The very real chance of imminent death does not seem to be bothering these two. Flamebeard adjusts his light armor and glances over at Snow. RendeR sits there like a statue, his full plate armor, Shield and barding gleaming like silver in the sunlight. How will he break through such defenses?

RendeR never seems to move, right up to the point when they are directed to their places at the end of the lists.

Pass 1: Both riders take a mild pace, sizing one another up. They meet dead center of the lists and their lances fall.....With a loud SNAP Flamebeard strikes and breaks his lance against Snow's shield but RendeR barely moves in teh saddle. Snow's lance strikes but not with enough force to break. Erik gains the point advantage!!

5-1 Flamebeard!

Pass 2: Once again Von Snow directs his beast down the list and meets flamebeard dead center. Erik lowers his lance...and MISSES! Von Snow however leans in slamming his lance into the armor of ERik, shattering his lance and Flamebeard teeters.....and falls!! First unhorsing of this tilt to Lord Snow!

11-5 Snow!!!

Pass 3: Flamebeard has seem enough of the calm controlled strides of Snow, he charges his steed full force down the list. Reaching RendeR far to RendeR's side. Both men lean in and lower their lances! And both men miss. Flamebeard due to a lack of control at that speed, Snow because FLamebeard was bent halfway over trying to aim his lance.

11-5 Snow!!

Pass 4: Lord RendeR decides to try his hand at a high speed pass. urging his thoroughbred to top speed he and Flamebeard come together just at the central area. Lances crash, Lances SNAP, both men break their lances but fail to unhorse their opponent.

16-10 Snow!!

Pass 5: Once again the combatants urge their mounts forward, once again the lances drop towards their marks...and once again both men miss completely....Perhaps our knights have tired themselves?

16-10 Snow!

Pass 6: Once again Flamebeard gets a bit of an edge in speed and Snow is steady on course, Flamebeard STRIKES, and his lance shatters! Snow's lance just misses its mark!

16-15 Snow with 2 passes left!

Pass 7: Flamebeard presses his advantage in speed as Snow's amror plated self seems to be weighing badly on his horse. They meet slightly to RendeR's side of the list. Lances falls and RendeR STRIKES! but his lance bounces away without breaking. Erik's Lance dropped too low and slipped under RendeR entirely.

17-15 Lord Snow!

Pass 8: Final pass of this round, the horses heave as they try to regain breath, the riders bear down a bit more, any single strike could turn the tide here! The lances come down as they approach one another at the center marker.....and both lances drop far too low!!! They MISSED one another again!!

Final Score Lord RendeR Von Snow 17 Erik Flamebeard 15 Good solid match, but both speed and heavily armoring yourself seem to have proven to wear down the mounts over time. Though it is not lost on the spectators that Lord Snow was never unhorsed. It seems that armor can asve you from something after all.

Statistics:

RendeR: 4 Strikes, 2 Lances Broken, 1 Unhorsing
Flamebeard: 3 Strikes, 3 Lances broken

"Good match SIr. I am honrored to have fought such a noble combatant."

With a short bow Lord RendeR Strides away to Prepare for round 2.

For the record my Son Aemon did all the math for me on this one to help avoid any bias I might have had. He got all upset when I was behind but then kept cheering on Flamebeard as he closed up the gap later on. I was like "Who are you rooting for kid??"

The Armor save made a huge difference. As tehre was only 1 chance in 6 that I'd get unhorsed due to my loading up on armor. My horse on the other hand got REALLY tired. I couldn't get any sort of speed advantage. At ;east 3 times Erik, if he had struck instead of missing would have broken more lances easily due to the speed advantage.

This is really getting fun to watch unfold as all the varieties of entry take the field.

Sir Cumstance bows deeply as Render passes, a sign of respect?

No, from the noises which follow its simply a revisitation of last nights Chicken Tikka .... as to whether this is pre-joust nerves or simply an ill-advised meal ... he's not in a condition to say currently.

Round 1 Tilt 5:

Sir Cumstance vs Sir Swamp Person

After the solemness of the previous tilt the crowd seems to have become energized as the next two men take to the list. Sir Cumstance on his percheron and Sir Swamp perrson riding a smaller thoroughbred horse.

Both men wear heavy armor. This should be a good test of the speed vs strength issue!

Pass 1: Sir Swamp Person wastes no time getting his thoroughbred up to speed, meeting Sir Cumstance far to his side of the list, and it appears this great speed difference surprised the knight because his lance never fell in time. Unfortunately for him Sir Swamp person was dead on target, striking, breaking his lance and unhorsing Sir Cumstance! First blood to Sir Swamp Person.

10-0 Sir Swamp Person!!

Pass 2: Sir Swamp Person seems to be faster than anything live right now, nearly 3/4 the way down the list he strikes before Sir Cumstance can even get his lance in the cradle. Shattering his lance upon his chest. Sir Cumstance again never gets close to his target and misses.

15-0 Sir Swamp Person!!

Pass 3: The nex t pass find Sir Cumstance getting his bearings and speeing up his Percheron a bit. The combatants come together at center list. Their lances fall and their lances both snap in twain upon the other rider but the heavy armor saves them both from a horrendous fall. Sir Cumstance has Scored!

20-5 Sir Swamp Person!!

Pass 4: Again both men come together, near center list. This time both lances start to fall and slip past one another harmlessly. No Points!

20-5 Sir Swamp Person!

Pass 5: The 5th pass sees both competitors controlling their mounts more, speeds are closer together with Sir Swamp person holding a definite edge. The lances fall and Both explode against their opponents. Both men showing quite some skill here today!! If not for the slow start Sir Cumstance would be right in the hunt!

25-10 Sir Swamp person!

Pass 6: Sir Swamp Person can smell a victory, he pushes Gator to ridiculous speeds charging down on Sir Cumastance fast and furiosuly. Lances both strike, They both shatter but the added momentum of Gator throws Sir Cumstance from his steed crashing him into the center barrier!! The medical team checks him over and decides he is fit to ride!

35-15 Sir Swamp Person!!

Pass 7: Once more the coursers carry their lancers against one another. Gator covering ground like a horse possesed. As they meet they both STRIKE, they both break their lances! Sir Swamp Person teeters a bit but manages to stay upright. Sir Cumstance raoccks backwards, flailing at the reigns to control himself and after almost reeling himself back slips off and crashes to teh ground. He lays there very still as the medical teams converge. The stadium falls silent worried that another contestant may have been hurt. THe med tea waves out teh stretcher. Sir Cumstance is unconscious and canot continue! They do believe he will recover fully however! When this is announced the stands erupt with a great ovation for Sir Swamp person who has put on a fantastic show!

55-20 Sir Swamp person WINS by KNOCKOUT!!!

Statistics:

Sir Cumstance: 4 Strikes, 4 Broken Lances
Sir Swamp Person: 6 Strikes, 6 broken Lances, 3 Unhorsings, 1 Knockout!!

Six hours later.

A body lies inert on a hospital bed, breathing slowly.

His eyelids flicker.

Lifting his head Sir Cumstance looks around slowly ....

"Damn" thinks Cumstance, "thats a good way to sleep through a hangover, I should joust more often"

As dawn rises, outside the camp of Erik Flamebeard, one sees Flammende Kaffe, the mighty steed Of The Neither Here Nor There.

He seems to be a bit worse for wear, with a black eye and an empty wineskin sitting beside him.

As for the Viking Lord himself? He has not been seen since his fight, though the most unnerving noises have come from his tent, along with a throng of servants carrying barrels of beer.

With only one tilt remaining before his event against Prince Pouncelot, Dex Morgan decides to jump on the training horse and get used to riding and aiming a lance.

He was not two minutes into his session before he realized that he doesn't have any armor to protect himself like the other contestants.

Are you not worried that future maidens might not want to polish a lance which has already received so much buffing?

Circumstance is saving his lance for the right maiden - he doesn't let just anyone polish it, remember everyone we're setting an example for every youth watching this tournament - so have another round and don't fall over.

Once again the crowds settle in as the competitors get set to face off in the Joust.

Sir Din
-vs-
Paavo Laaksonnen

Pass 1: Pavvo and Sir Din face one another down and then they're both OFF! straining their mounts to high speed along the list. They meet, the lances fall and Sir Din Misses! Pavvo parried nicely and shatters his lance against Sir Din's armor.

5-0 Paavo!

Pass 2: (Gm interruption: I'm still laughing my ass off at this pass. I just rolled 4 straight 1's. a roll of 1 to strike is a mishap, meaning something bad happens. A second roll of 1 means you hit your opponents head, which is a penalty. I just got that result for BOTH riders.)
The jousters have at one another a second time, this time they meet mid-list and their lances.....slam solidly into one another's HEADS. TWIN penalties! The crowd lets out everything from panicked shrieks to loud cheers to angry yells at such horrible manners!

0 - -5 Paavo still leads with no points (lulz)

Pass 3: After a warning that head shots are illegal both riders come at one another once again. This time Sir Din has a speed advantage and as they close on one another the lances come....OH so close to another head shot, by BOTH KNIGHTS! Luckily both just missed, though Sir Din is missing a bit of feather off his helm.

The crowd is getting angry now. Such un-chivalrous acts by the competitors is not sitting well.

0 - -5 Paavo

Pass 4: The officials take a moment to "chat" with both riders before sending them back down the lists. Sir Din Is getting the hang of this speed advantage and hurtles down the list like a Kentucky Derby winner. The knights come together and Sir Din's Lance strikes and shatters bearing Pavvo to the ground in a heap of clanking armor!

5-0 Sir Din!!

Pass 5: Once again the knights charge, once again the amazing speed of Sir Din's horse, FOxFire, is readily apparent. The momentum he carries is just insane. The knights meet well to Paavo's side of the list and when the lances fall...paavo has missed again! More than that he's been crushed by another solid broken lance and tossed to the ground once more!!! Another unhorsing! The Medical staff come out to check his condition and he shoves one of them away harshly. he appears to be very upset though he is controlling it well.

15-0 Sir Din!

Pass 6: Paavo is obviously out of sorts, he has trouble getting his charger to turn and start his run, Sir Din looks comfortable and rests Foxfire a bit taking a more leisurely pace this pass. The knights come together at mid field and Sir Din strikes! while Paavo's lance slips under his targets arm.

20-0 Sir Din!

Pass 7: Paavo needs to unhorse Sir Din in the last two passes to have a chance, or knock him out altogether! As they meet along the list their lances both strike, their lances both shatter and BOTH riders fall!! Amazing pass! THe medical teams rush out to the knights to assess the damages....Paavo leaps to his feet and remounts his steed. Sir Din gets up, albeit more slowly and he looks a bit sore as he remounts Foxfire. One Pass to GO!

30-10 Sir Din!

Pass 8: This is it for Paavo, he must either knock the man out, or kill him to advance. Anything less is defeat. The horses turn, and charge ......

Paavo lunges his lance at Sir Din trying to meet out every ounce of strength.....to no avail, he misses completely. Sir Din however breaks yet another lance on his opponent.

35-10 Sir Din WINS!

Statistics:

Sir Din: 6 strikes, 5 borken lances, 3 Unhorsings and 1 penalty
Paavo: 3 strikes, 2 broken lances, 1 unhorsing, and 1 penalty

Both men rise and scream numerous vile insults at one another. The anger and tension in the arena is about to explode!

16-6 Dex Morgan!

Pass 4: The anger these men feel atm is almost palpable as they charge into one another. Dex again maintains a light speed advantage, its not much but it might make a difference. Both lances Strike, but neither man can break their weapon.

17-7 Dex!

Pass 5: Once again The knights come together but their anger has distracted them and they miss one another completely.

17-7 Dex!!

Pass 6: It appears the emotions have ruined our jousters as once again they miss utterly. Some boos can be heard coming from the stands.

Pass 7: The knights come together at the center point, lances descend and Dex STRIKES!, Prince pouncealot's lance is parried just out of target range.

18-7 Dex Morgan!!

Pass 8: The horses heave and rear and charge down the list. Dirt and sand fly from their hooves. just to Prince's side of the center they meet and both men STRIKE! Dex does not snap his lance however and Prince Pouncealot does! Dex teeters momentarily but his mount settles quickly allowing him to remain mounted.

19-12 Dex Morgan WINS!!!

The quick lesson on the training horse proved useful as Dex Morgan escaped his duel against Prince Pouncealot with a victoy. Now that his event has passed and there's a little break before his next run, Dex can now go back to tracking the killer before he strikes again.

Unfortunately the trail went cold after his recent encounter at the bar. He couldn't find anything that would link David Ginsberg to the death of Sterling Symkus.

But he wont count him out just yet. Luck of the draw pits Dex and Ginsgerg together in the second round.

Lucky? Mere coincidence? Or an act of collusion?

From across the bar Dex spots Prince Pouncealot mulling over the events of the afternoon. They make eye contact and Dex smiles and raises his stein towards the prince.

Dex replays the joust with Pouncealot in his head. He begins to wonder if the prince's strike to his head on the third pass and the misses on the later passes were intentional.

Without breaking eye contact, Dex takes his sip of ale as Pouncealot does the same.

Do I see sheets of plastic in your future?
