Since I mentioned it in the FBCB thread I might as well get this started. Work is progressing on the new pro game to the point where I might start having some people get involved with testing later in the month while I continue to add more stuff. The best way to currently describe the game is a cross between FBCB and Season Ticket Basketball with database that lets you start or import draft classes from any season since 1946. The other big thing right now is I'm working to make it possible to have multiple leagues running within the same game universe. Just how much the leagues interact would be up to the user but it opens up the possibility for adding European or other leagues to the game as well. Here is a basic overview for now:

You will be able to import draft classes from FBCB?

Looking forward to playing it.

This. Never played your earlier edition of the pro game, but I've eaten up the FBCB series to the point that I'm already planning on sinking lots of time into this. Would be happy to help test, too, if you need that.

Dunno if I'll play a pro game too much but its still an instant day 1 purchase if for no other reason than to say thanks for the amazing FBCB Support. The historical draft classes does sound *very* appealing. I want to play in the late 80s/early 90s and get a team of UNC alum going... Kenny Smith/Jordan/Perkins/Worthy/Daugherty should work out ok.

This is awesome.

Question though. Being able to have multiple leagues, will there be any chance we could see some sort of promotional system put into the game?

HeavyReign

Promotion between leagues would not be out of the question given that leagues in Europe actively use it.

You will be able to import draft classes from FBCB?

Of course.

This is awesome news :)

One big wish : Please try to correct the issue of european PCs not being able to sort the stats correctly without changing a lot of things on the PC.

FBCB and FBCB2 were the only games where i ever had that problem. Would be highly apreciated if you could change that for this game :)

Iīm more than willing to help test (not just for that, overall)

If it "only" as solid as FBCB2 itīll be allready great :) Did i understand it correctly that upon release every player from 1946 to 2011 will be in the DB ? How the hell did you manage to put in all this data ? And itīll all come without extra cost ? Thatīs grand of you !

Will there be league records available and for every year ? Like, if i start in 1980 will the league records (points in a season, rebounds in career f.e.) be "as of the start of the 1980 season" ?

Also, do you have to go the historical route or can you also go all fictional as allway ?

This sounds good and if the support is as good as the college game, I certainly will be a first day purchaser. Also, if you do need early testers, feel free to sign me up!

*Import draft files from FBCB

I presume if doing a fictional league we can pick any start year? Although I doubt it will be necessary, I'd like to coordinate the year with my college universe.

*Fast sim allows automatic simulation of multiple seasons to allow you to build the league history before playing

My pet issue, thank you!

I have another question in general. As we saw this past NBA season, the bottom 5+ teams headed towards the lottery usually engage in some form of tanking. It's a very tangible part of the NBA. Will there be some sort of mechanism in the game to mimic that? Maybe have these teams a little more willing to stretch out injuries? Combined with something like OOTP's win now/normal/rebuilding modes for trades? Doesn't have to be over the top, but it seems like there should be some nod towards this.

I picked up DDSPB3 because I wasn't sure if this would be released (and I really wanted the new FBB to come out, so I decided to date it's sister instead...). However I am super excited for this to come out and will be a day one purchase.

day one purchase for me also!!!

I am curious about the finance options. Will we be given a choice of NBA style salary cap, strict salary cap and no salary cap?

That is an interesting point. FBCB is a grey dog game. Don't know if the pro game will be released under them as well. There is no announcement on the website or the forums.

Are you writing this one in .NET or sticking with VB6?

HeavyReign
05-11-2012, 12:49 AM
Still working in VB6 for now. I might look at .NET for the next FBCB but ultimately I'd like move away from VB entirely. As long as VB is still used there wouldn't be a Mac specific version.

For fictional leagues you could start whenever you wanted.

Whomario I scrapped the sorting routines used in the FBCB games so hopefully that will eliminate the issues that you had in those games. I'd be open to having you let me know if that is the case once I start doing some testing.

Effectively there is FBB, STB/FBBSE, and now this game on the pro side. When STB came out I should have also released my version as FBB2 but instead kept updating both the original FBB and STB at the same time. Had I handled that properly it would've been easier to transition into FBB3 after the first FBCB. The new version has been worked on in stages many times over the years but this time I can actually see the finish line.

Right now the database imports the past player stats but doesn't calculate season records etc. Something like records could be easy to pull out of the database when you start. If I wanted to add other pieces of history I'd have to add some more information to the database.

When the game is done will depend on how things will go once I start testing. I'm pretty sure the beta period on FBCB ended up being around 2 months. Starting testing tends to be a huge step just because of how my mind works. When I start getting tons of feedback I get more focused so I'm either always programming or always thinking about it. It helps prevent the periods of what is effectively writers block. Ultimately, more time until release will mean that more stuff got added.

Wow!

Best news in a long while. I've been playing FBCB2 pretty much non-stop for a year now and every time I pause to play OOTP12 or FOF I come right back to FBCB2. With the new Panzer Corps Commander, FBCB2 takes up all my free time.

I'm reading the excellent LOOSE BALLS by Terry Pluto for at least the third time. It's the definitive history of the ABA and a classic.

In the past I've setup all-time tournaments using Above The Rim, the Excel-based basketball sim. Kentucky Colonels with Artis Gilmore, Dan Issel and Louie Dampier versus the Celtics or Bulls make for great games.

Will we be able to import historic teams into leagues like you can in OOTP? Taking the best of the ABA like that Kentucky team and the Nets with Julius Erving, or the Spurs with George Gervin, Swen Nater and James Silas would make for hours of fun for me.

Add me to the list of volunteer play testers and ABA verifiers. I may be the only person around here who actually attended ABA games and remembers the players fondly.

Oh, and I know you don't do this now, but having a spot on the player screen for a photo would be awesome. I'd lead the way to assembling an ABA photo pack.

Definitely agree on this. I think with STB there were rarely any woeful teams because no teams were ever in rebuild mode, so you'd rarely see those horrible Bobcats-esque squads, nor as a result the incredibly high winning % teams generally speaking.

Perhaps instead of building in "tanking" by having the team play worse, the out of contention team could take a different trade deadline approach by getting more draft picks, dumping salary, etc. which would lead to poor performance for the rest of the season.

Even towards the end of the season, I think most teams will play younger players and lose that way. Something about building in the "tank" factor that bothers me (as it does in real life). I don't know how HR would separate a Charlotte team vs. a New Orleans team which actually started winning games once Gordon came back from injury. I'd actually go even so far as to say teams like New Orleans and even a Sacramento were trying to win (or at least get better) or else they'd have been tanking to get the second worst record from Washington.

Players donīt tank, management does, first by personell moves, then by not risking anything with banged up players (to put a positive spin on it) and propably eventually the coach doesnīt play guys that might be better players but he figures wont be there past the end of the season.

And loosing teams eventually crumble and continue to loose.

I'd actually go even so far as to say teams like New Orleans and even a Sacramento were trying to win (or at least get better) or else they'd have been tanking to get the second worst record from Washington.

Hornets did tank by sitting guys with slight injuries towards the end of the season (Jack sat like 20 days with a "sore ankle" f.e., Kaman going out the last 10 games and so forth). Look at the box scores, itīs mind boggling.
The only reason Gordon was played at all was likely that they felt they needed a look at him in a No1 role to decide if they commit to him in the summer (try to, anyway)

I agree that it would be great if teams traded differently related to their current position/roster makeup and have the AI recognize if their team is in rebuild or not. 2K allegedly did that with NBA 2K12, but amidst al the other things not working i didnīt pay attention if it actually worked at all ...

I will be going with something along these lines although I haven't added it yet. Teams looking to rebuild should be more willing to make trades for draft picks, expiring contracts, etc.

And sorry for the quiet few days. Very glad to hear. I just want to guard against everyone in the league being bunched up between 25-55 wins, which is what tends to happen when this is not accounted for, and it takes me out of an NBA sim somewhat. It's not a game killer but it's annoying and not realistic.

05-23-2012, 12:52 PM
I was wondering with the historical season play will there be a replay type of mode which have you as a coach just coaching the team while the gm makes the trades that happened during the season sort of like what happen in games like puresim I believe.

yeah826
05-23-2012, 12:53 PM
Also Im kinda curious how did you go about putting in the defensive ratings of players before around 1974 since they did not incorporate the block or steal stat untill this time period

HeavyReign
05-24-2012, 12:31 AM
I'm considering some form of replay mode. I haven't fully decided how I want to handle it just yet though. It could be as simple as the draft is disabled an rookies get placed on the appropriate teams or there could be more to it.

For now defense is randomized in those years with the ability to enter in potential values for players into the database. The ability to override the potential rating for any skill for any player is present for all years.

korme
05-24-2012, 11:04 AM
Also Brian, you have to consider how you will handle players who were drafted, and then didn't play in the league right away.

For example, Arvydas Sabonis was drafted in '86, didn't debut until '95-96. Do you have him import when drafted or when arrived? I guess that could be optional as well.

I'm still working on making various sections of the game able to handle multiple leagues at once. The main core of the game has no issues there but some of the extra features needed to be adjusted.

britrock88
06-05-2012, 04:54 PM
A couple questions about historical league features - will there be an option to turn off free agency (as it didn't exist until the 70s)? If that's in play, could players still jump from the NBA to ABA or vice versa? And once free agency does come into play, is there any framework for compensation by draft pick (like baseball has), as the NBA had that for a time?

HeavyReign
06-05-2012, 05:01 PM
The plan is to have options for no free agency. I'll have to do some more research into that time period to see exactly how it was handled then to see if it is actually feasible in a multiple league setup.

Long time no update :)....So I'll try to provide more updates from here on out. I've been working hard on the code that allows the game to support multiple leagues at once. Going back and converting code that was designed to only handle one league has been a significant process but it is mostly done. It also took me forever to figure out how I wanted to lay out the available options when starting a new game but I finally came up with something that I'm pretty happy with. The end result of all this is I've added 4 leagues to the game so far: NBA, ABA, NBDL, and Italy's Serie A. The three American leagues have full historical settings for league structure so the process of expansion and team movement in the correct years can be fully automated. The game will also automatically update league rules like the salary cap for you each year if you enable the option. Currently ABA teams will leave for the NBA in 1976 but I still need to add code to make the league fold. Coming work will include adding more leagues as well as adding code for how the leagues can interact. For instance it will be possible to set up promotion and relagation between leagues and it will be possible to specify one league as a developmental league of another league.

I'd love to use Steam. Dealing with Elicense can be frustrating at times as we all know. It will just require writing the games in C/C++. I'd prefer to move in that direction but I just don't know how long it would take. Kickstarter certainly sounds interesting but I'm not sure how it would work for a text sim. Obviously the trend is to offer up extra stuff depending on levels of funding. I'm actually anxious to see how this will all turn out from a sales perspective. Its been a long time since the last pro game but there does seem to be a decent number of online leagues still out there mostly using the original game. Maybe what you could do at different levels of funding:

- Level 1 - If people pledge at certain amount (maybe a discounted price), they get the benefit of supporting you and ultimately getting the game a little cheaper.

- Level 2 - If they pledge an amount greater than level one, but still at some discounted amount, they get the discount amount and maybe you allow them to participate as a tester as you finalize the game so they can contribute ideas and help make the product strong. Include the testers and contributors in the list of credits as an extra touch:)

You mention being curious about how the game would sale, using Kick starter would help answer this question since you could see the amount of pre-sales interest.

Yup, I can't help but feel that there is a bigger market out there for this than is realised. I think the addition of foreign leagues in this release will help, and having a platform that is visible to so many people like Steam could only mean more sales. I think a kickstarter to help with the transition to C/C++ followed by a Steam release would be the way to go, because you would have cash to work with while you translate the code over to C/C++.

Much of my recent work has gone into finances. In terms of finances and the cap, you can play with a hard(ish) cap, a soft cap only, or full finances has your owner set your max budget. The system for ticket prices works like it did with Season Ticket Basketball. You can set the average ticket price long with the prices for club seats and luxury suites. You'll have the option to build a new arena or to attempt to move to a new city if your proposal fails in your current city.

In the overall process, here is an idea of what needs to be done:

Interaction between leagues
In game league editors
Team exports/Imports
HTML
Engine Balancing

There are some steps I'm missing but this should give you a general idea. I'll also be looking to add a few more testers in the near future.

You need to keep reminding yourself that you are the Kevin Durant (wanted to say LeBron, but that sorta seems like a backhanded compliment) of text sim programmers. Seriously, you're the best at what you do and that's most certainly something to be proud of. I wish 2K would hire you to do all the sim stuff in their titles.

I would love to see you create a sim on the tablet market because I think it would be a big $ucess, especially if you focused on the multiplayer league aspect of things.

My wife suffers from depression, I see it when she goes through it how hard daily life becomes. I call it the veil that drops over everything. It's so tough, so I feel for ya.

I have to say that your games are just great, so hopefully the work you do with your programming feels fulfilling and helps you through these times. I know that creating while in depression must be really hard.

I'll lay down the money for this game today without even having to know a release date.

The historical stuff goes back into the 40s. The next public step for this will likely be a beta demo which would let you play one season. It would likely only use the 2012 roster file as the goal will be exposing bugs and allowing for potential feedback before it is too late. I just got a big update out to the beta team so now I can look at what exactly needs to be done for the beta demo.

Initial Thoughts: (after 3 simmed seasons, two NBA file, one fictional_

Assists seem too low, the leaders have been between 7 and 8, and the rest of the leaderboard seems pretty deflated. 5.5 assists a game was good for 4th in the fictional league. Don't know if that would be an engine or a player generation issue.

Perhaps add where a player is from, particularly with foreign players, if for no other reason than immersion.

Is there any sort of injury prone rating?

FG% has been too high in all of sims so far. The top teams are about right, 47-49% as a team, but it should drop off quickly after that. I believe the NBA's FG% the last 5 seasons (including this one), 44.7, 44.8, 45.9, 46.1, 45.9. In the game there are only about 5 teams that shoot below what the average should be.

Three point shooting seems high as well, one team the last 5 years has shot over 40% as a team. 6 did it in one sim, 5 in another.

I know many of these are just engine things, and the engine might be towards the bottom of your list of priorities, but those are the things I tend to gravitate towards.

The engine stuff will be part of my final sweep. Assists being low is the most obvious one. Basically feel free to provide any feedback that comes to you and I'll sort it all out.

Players do have the hometowns stored but I'll figure out a way of displaying it as well.

Each player does get an injury prone rating. I should add that to the editors as well.

I know many of these are just engine things, and the engine might be towards the bottom of your list of priorities, but those are the things I tend to gravitate towards.

I noticed the assists thing as well. I feel like this is an issue where the ratings don't match the engine, especially when it comes to 3-point specialists. I think players' HND rating is too closely related to their turnovers. Someone like Mike Miller hardly turns it over not because he's an amazing ballhandler, but because he either shoots an open 3 or makes a safe pass immediately upon getting the ball. So you see players like these scoring a much higher percentage of their points from lay-ups and unassisted jumpers than they would in real life because in the engine, HND is likely something that determines whether a player can get to a more optimal location with the ball.

Another rating that might be off in this regard is JPS. It's kind of counterintuitive because if Steve Novak is a good 3-point shooter, then it stands to reason that he'd also be good at shooting from closer in. The only problem is that he can't create those looks for himself due to a lack of strength/athleticism and ball-handling ability.

tl;dr There might need to be some ratings tweaks to account for the fact that most shooting specialists need to have their looks created for them by more dynamic/athletic players. Otherwise you have stuff like Boston having Rondo come off the bench so it can start a backcourt of Leandro Barbosa and Jason Terry.

On the FA screen, it says "Sumbit Offer". Should be Submit.

It would be nice if the waiver wire listed which team the currently waived player was playing for... also, are waivers working? I've put in claims and nothing happens.

Transactions, trades screen lists the first team listed (in this case, Atlanta Hawks) as the team that makes every transaction. For instance it says Hawks trade LaMarcus Aldridge for Kris Humphries. Then, next line it says Hawks trade Kris Humphries for LaMarcus Aldridge. Hawks, of course have neither of these players.... looks like this problem only occurs if transactions have been made before team names are entered into database.

All-Star selections don't record as achievements on player pages. No Finals MVP

In game play fouling needs some tweaking. 2 starters had 2 fouls with 8 min to play in 1st quarter and weren't subbed out.

Baby tweaks.

In the 'how tedious can your suggestions be' category: In the list of a player's career bests, I think aesthetically it would look better if it was listed ALL of the season high, then all of the career, then all of the playoff. They way they are mixed right now is kind of confusing to look at, to me.

Are the coaching ratings such as 'coaching perimeter defense' a rating on developing that skill or its effectiveness in-game?

The PT numbers on the depth chart are, I'm assuming minutes per game you want that player to play, so do you think at the top or bottom you could have a 'minutes remaining' box? So we can see where we need to adjust to get the full 240 minutes?

Been messing around with setting up foreign leagues, so I created our Australian professional league, complete with its paltry 1 million dollar hard cap. Firstly, love the fact that a majority of the players are generated as Aussies (although I have to go into the edit screen to verify that)! A few comments on what I've seen after a few play-throughs:

1) Custom schedule length looks like it's something that will be added, given the only selection is "normal"?
2) Is it possible to include a restriction on the amount of foreign players per league?
3) The engine seemed to have some quirks with the low salary cap of 1mil. Despite being a hardcap, one of the 'normal' market teams is sitting at 1.6 mil. For smaller leagues it might be handy to have a minimum/maximum contract setting too? It seems guys are either in the $100ks, or around $20k.
4) Is there a way to disable trades for certain leagues?

I have to say though, I am VERY impressed. This looks EXACTLY like what I've been hoping for, I just wish that darn 'END SEASON' button would work!! :D

Yeah it is basically intended minutes per game. I'll see if I can add something like that. The other factor is making sure enough minutes are allocated to each position.

1) Custom schedule length looks like it's something that will be added, given the only selection is "normal"?

Yeah.

2) Is it possible to include a restriction on the amount of foreign players per league?

This seems necessary given how certain leagues work.

I think there might be some issues with the hard cap right now after running a test. I'm not opposed to allowing the min and max contract to be customized.

4) Is there a way to disable trades for certain leagues?

Not yet but it would make sense to be able to set it on a league level.

Yeah that wasn't particularly well written. Let me try again. I am not at my home computer now, but this was basically how i encountered the bug:

I was on the draft screen. I would click offensive attributes at the top of the screen. Then I would sort by current rating. Then I would see a bunch of players sorted properly. So far so good. But then when I clicked defensive attributes the players I was looking at were gone because the game resorted the players (not sure on what basis).

What I would like is for the same players to stay up on the screen until I specifically click on a specific attribute to re-sort the players.

Hope that is more clear :-)

This demo only meant to test out the basics first so we can make sure that that game works in the initial sense. More of the advanced stuff will be release later on I presume.:)

How do you get it to open to that resolution? (I'm at work, but have been playing it in a small box)

It opens in a small box. I was speaking to not having any problems with the layout at that resolution. I don't know if it can be opened to take up more space.

A total shot in the dark, Chin, but I remember something similar happening to another text sim game. I had to go and change a text setting in my windows. On windows 7 I search "text" in the start menu and click "Make text and other items larger and smaller." In that menu I have chosen small. Maybe that is it?

edit: I have windows 7. Why the fuck did I say windows 8

All the screens are out of alignment for me, making the game near unplayable. Resolution issue? I run @ 1920x1080

In the team editor, when setting markets, is that in relation to the world or the league that it is in?

For instance, if I am making a league in a small country, there are going to be 1 or 2 teams that thrive financially compared to the others. Do I make them Huge markets, and trickle the other teams down comparably, or do I make them Small and the rest Tiny?

This will depend on which version of Windows you have. If it is Windows 7 you can get away with unchecking the "Use Windows XP style DPI scaling" box and leave it at 125%. Older versions this didn't work.

It is set in relation to the world.

How will the Parent/Development league relationship work for league types?

Basically each team in the parent league will be assigned a team in the developmental league. You'll be able to send players to that league and then recall them when you need them. You won't have any control over how the player is used while there however.

Ok, got it. This was an issue with specifically sorting by current/future. It should work fine on the other attributes.

Al Harrington is missing from the Magic but I put him on Magic.

He was still listed on Denver because he hasn't appeared in a game this year. I moved everyone that had played and then missed him when doing my double check. There might be a couple more players like this in the roster file.

In Player Editor my 2 add Teams are missing so I can't do Jayhawks Rosters without Replacing a Team.

If you are trying to add to an active league that won't work in the demo. You can add them to the league file using the league file editor then start a new game.

Also where's rule can Trade with other Leagues?

Love the fact that we can set it to automatically grab the FBCB draft files, going to make generating league history a breeze!!

What was the limit on active leagues? So far I've setup the NBDL as well as the div 1 comps in Australia, Spain, and Argentina. Will definitely need to play around with market sizes and salaries however until I get a feel of how it works.

Stats look VERY accurate already.

One problem I am seeing.

Kevin Love for some reason comes out 30 seconds into the game for about 3 minutes and sits at the end of close games. The minutes and stats are right in line but when he plays and sits during the games is a bit goofy. You may want to look at the subbing patterns a bit.

I would guess Love isnt a singular issue.

I've only run quickly through 1 season, but a couple things I've noticed:

In free agency, it's very hard to tell whether a player is offered a team or player or mutual option.

Players' ability/potential color blocks change from screen to screen. (I'll try to find what screens in particular are different.)

Inactive players record game statistics.

I used Best-of-1 playoff series and got some wonky stuff. Win or lose, the series tally for my human-run team would not update, and my team would also advance.

Very pleased to see this game returning. A few things that came up as I toyed with the demo.

-Not well versed on the salary cap rules but it appears as though the game is requiring salaries to match exactly when two teams are over the cap. The games that I've played in the past and my understanding of NBA trade rules suggest that they only need to be within a certain percentage of proximity

-It would be nice if you could update the ownership information to reflect the NBA (names, winning, greed level, etc...). Also, is there a way to hard code the impending move of the Kings to Seattle, for the 2013/14 year?

mgsports

It's not final in Kings moving to Seattle and also let the Kings before Sale in Game right off meaning like have a local group,Hansen group and others form other Cities bid to buy the Team.

In Players Information having what Team Drafted them because that help me get Drafted by teams done faster?

If I have other Leagues Active being able to Trade with them?

Also if we have a Saved Player File being Able to add DL to it.

Yes I know he does but Imcorate NCCA into the Game so we can have March Madness and so on.

Also person who has the NDBL,Overseas Leagues in your Game can you posted it Online for people to try.

Sorry if somebody already mentioned this but I've found that if a player has 5 fouls the game will let him stay in until the point I go to the sub screen. At that point it tells me the player has fouled out and I have to replace him.

For now the game won't limit you on the number of leagues as long as there are less than 32k players or so. I have to think certain sections could end up incredibly slow if it got too big.

I do need to do some work as far as being able to draft foreign players and not sign them right away as well as maybe looking at how the rookies are being supplied to the game. Right now each league gets their own set of rookies basically. I might want to change that so that each region gets a set of rookies and then distribute them according to league prestige.

HeavyReign

I did that but I would like to add Players to the Jayhawks in the Player Editor

If you use the Jayhawks abbreviation whatever that is set to as the player's team in the player file editor then the game should assign those players to them.

In Demo can DL expand? Can we added Overseas Leagues because I can activated another League but one I saved but same as USA1 with Divisional Changes?

You can make additional leagues to test with and run them all. 2 versions of the same league might cause some complications if you are using a player file as well because of how the players get added to the teams.

Also where's rule can Trade with other Leagues?

This is not currently an option.

The minimum that I need to do is add in the team exports and html, come up with images for the stuff that just has placeholders right now, and make the manual. The rest depends on how much stuff people find. Some time will go to more work on the engine as well.

They should be allowed some margin of error. However I'd also have to check and see if either team is over their team budget.

It would be nice if you could update the ownership information to reflect the NBA (names, winning, greed level, etc...). Also, is there a way to hard code the impending move of the Kings to Seattle, for the 2013/14 year?

I could look at options for setting the owners in the league file as well. I also need to look at adding coach files. The league file editor does allow you to list a new arena in progress including the option to specify a new city.

I've been meaning to add that. I think I want to combine the roster screen and stats screen into one as that will free up a menu spot to add another option. I'll get that added once I decide how I'm going to proceed.

Fixes:
*Sorts by current/future rating shouldn't change their order when switching between reports.
*Fixed error 9 when adding a player to an empty player file.
*Left menu shouldn't disappear when viewing trade screen.
*Fixed pbp saying halftime at the end of the first quarter
*Fixed cases where team name is supposed to be in pbp but does not appear.

*Players no longer get large stamina bonus at the end of the first quarter.
*Team should be listed in coach transaction history when they take a new job.
*Fixed bug that caused playoff results to not save when simming either a single game or coaching the game.
*Inactive players should not appear in games
*Players with 2 technical fouls should not stay in games.

Changes:
*Added date to box score printout.

I'm wondering the best way to financially represent a European league with no salary cap? Would something like an individual team salary cap based on market size be feasible?

I was also going to comment on height discrepencies in smaller leagues due to the lack of talented bigs, but I think this is an issue that would sort itself out in the full version, with skilled tall players from smaller countries being able to get better contracts from the NBA/bigger Euro competitions than they would locally.

HeavyReign

I'd bet it could be made to work under the constraints of the owner budget. It is mainly a matter of determining what is reasonable based on the income that can be brought in by the franchise and also making sure that each of the income streams makes sense based on the size of the league.

Getting a reproducable RTE 9 with the attached CBA league file. Steps:

1) Start new league with only the CBA active, and all default options.
2) Sim FA.
3) Sim to playoffs. RTE generally, though not always, happens following the final game of the season.

It would be an option at some future date. I'd want to get the overall international components working better before I moved on to something like that though.

Another thing I've noticed is that the NBDL teams are drafting foreign players. Not so sure a $0 contract with boarding and meal allowance is going to be enough of a carrot to lure these guys across. :D

Also just noticed in Player Stats selecting Totals rather than Averages, when you click on a category like Min or Pts, it correctly sorts on that column but it incorrectly highlights the next column. Everywhere else it works fine.
