I don't know how many years ago I signed up for this but years back (2004) I somehow got my name on a barrel of Marker's Mark as part of their "Fan Club". At the time I'd never drank it, and even to this day I've never had it except as an ingredient in something I've cooked.
Anyway I've received an email that the bottles from the barrel that has my name (and others) will be available for purchase in their Gift Shop at the distillery in Loretto, Ky., during regular business hours anytime between October 1, 2012 and March 31, 2013.
I'm not probably going to personally be able to get a bottle but I'm trying to figure out a way of someone getting a bottle for me (I'll pay) and shipping it to me. I realize the logistics and etc. involved in this but figured I'd look into it the possibility of someone helping me out.
Anyway let me know if you might be able to be of assistance. I've waited so long on this that I've actually really looked forward to it just because it was something I did years ago.

Loretto is about an hour from me. I'd be happy to do it except that it's so freaking out of the way to get to. You couldn't do Woodford Reserve or Wild Turkey? They're 10 minutes from here! :p
Seriously, though, if no one else is closer, I might be about to help. Just depends on when I'm passing by on the Bluegrass Parkway on the way to Elizabethtown next fall. It's very possible we'd have a softball tournament in Lebanon or Bardstown or E-Town where it wouldn't be an absolute pain in the ass to get to. I'll definitely try if I can coordinate it with my schedule one weekend.

That would be awesome if we can make it happen, the logistics are all sort of weird, since I have to tell them the day, etc, but as we get closer to fall we can see if this can work out, unless someone else is closer. I know the shipping might be a logistical issue as well, but I think we can get it to work out.

FYI, it's not the barrel I'm buying, it's a bottle from that barrel... :)

The shipping will be pretty easy once I drink the whole thing and then send you the empty bottle.

Hehe. If that's what it comes down to I'd do that. ;)

Ksyrup is closer than I am, but I'll keep it in mind if we find ourselves down that way at some point.

Same here. If no one else can, I'm relatively close to it. I get a bottle occasionally because my uncle in England likes it. I'd be happy to do it if need be.

My little one had an 8U tournament in Campbellsville yesterday, and we passed through Lebanon and just about 5 miles from Makers Mark. I thought about this thread.
The tough part logistically for me is the only time I'd end up in that part of the world is for softball, and the only months we could possibly play an outdoor tournament between October and March is just October or March. But we'll see what the schedule is like once we get to the fall. I think October is the best bet, just because we played in Lebanon last October.
