PETA Wants Town's Name Changed to 'Veggieburg'

(yes, I read news from other sources too. fox is just full of fun stuff today)

They previously targeted fishkill NY for a name change as well.

Don't get me started on PETA.

Here's another: http://www.americandaily.com/item/98

Would PETA object if I stopped eating beef and chicken and instead switched to a diet consisting of animal-rights activists?

I think PETA is one of the more entertaining organizations around.

Remember back when the internet was first in vogue, and a number of people had scooped up famous domain names? I still remember when peta.com was "owned" by someone who put up a People Eating Tasty Animals website. Good times.

Damn attorneys blew it for us all. (beat ya to it)

The sad thing is that there are legitimate cases of needless animal abuse they could focus on, but instead they try to pull stupid shit like that. Apparently you get more attention (and thus donations) from stuff like this than you do from doing practical things that might actually generate a positive effect.

I am so happy that PETA is based near me. They are a constant source of amusement.

It's a shame they swindle money out of conscientious people for idiocy like this (and for a pretty nice riverfront building).

The title of this thread suggests that PETA once had focus...

Does anyone remember the old A-Team episode in which Murdock founded the Golf Ball Liberation Front (or something like that)? That's a cause I could really get behind.

For the record, we don't really have PETA activists here in south-central Indiana. We would kill and eat them if they got too uppity.

Sort of, Fritz, only without all the asphalt.

Edit: And the gangs.

Edit two: And the violence.

Edit three: We do have lots of guns, though.

Edit four: And without the democrats. We've eaten most of those.

Edit five: And without the environmentalist fringe.

Edit six: And without the racial diversity.

Edit seven: And without all the nutty Californians.

Edit eight: And without the "jack in the box" restaurants. (Whatever the fuck those are.)

I'm guessing Drake has never had a Jumbo Jack... or, for that matter, a Whataburger.

Funny how a PETA thread gets jacked into a discussion about cheeseburgers. :D

Haven't seen a Whataburger since I moved to N. Cal... I kinda miss them... the same way I kinda miss that bad case of athlete's foot I had in the 11th grade.

Ya'll have Whataburger in Cali? Wow, I thought that it was still a Texas/New Mexico/Oklahoma regional chain...

Actually, I've never seen one in California... I used to eat there when I lived in Phoenix, AZ, tho...

You can still get People Eating Tasty Animals t-shirts though. Bought one myself for a brother last Christmas. Their vitriol over losing the peta.com domain is almost as amusing as PETA themselves.

I also read recently that the PETA president has written a will where her skin is supposed to be turned into leather as a protest and her liver is supposed to be sent to France to protest foie gras. She had a number of other demands for other body parts, but I can't find the link.

And more on the topic from Maddox:

What makes you think that animals suffer in slaughter houses anyway? I think it would rule to be raised for slaughter. Get all the free steroids you want, free meals and plenty of good company--hell, you have it made. Then when you're at the prime of your life, you get your head generously chopped off so you don't have to live through the suffering of old age. Not only that, but you can die with the satisfaction of knowing that somebody is going to enjoy eating a burger made out of you. What's more humane? Being slaughtered for meat or having to spend 8 hours a day, 40 hours per week in a cubicle for the rest of your life with assholes who listen to shitty music without headphones, then retiring and withering away with old age and cancer as your obnoxious kids grow up and treat you like shit? Slaughter please.

Country-fried steak sammich, with mayo & a 44 oz. cherry Coke (the kind made with syrup like God intended, not that awful pre-mix crap)
