paranoid or lyme's?

Recently i have been feeling very run down. Very frequent headaches, a very lethargic feeling and lately trouble sleeping. I thought the headaches were from the weather changes so i wrote them off. I recently had a work trip where i was working crazy hours so i wrote off the tired feeling to that. The last three days i have just felt like partial crap, kind of like being on the edge of coming down with something. Now insomnia and sweating while laying in bed, though it's not warm.

Figured it was something that would run it's course, and it still may be. Then tonight, my wife asks if i was bitten by something. She shows me a picture from my back near my shoulderblade of a round almost bullseye type of mark that is about two inches in diameter. I now remember a couple weeks ago feeling itching from that general area and figured i was bitten by a spider or mosquito, as i didn't feel anything attached.

I looked up lyme's and it seems that some of these symptoms could fit, but they could fit many things.

Has anyone on here had lyme's? If so, is it quickly treatable?

I'll set up an appointment later today. Just curious what to expect.

From what i ahve seen so far it almost seems like i should hope that it's lyme's (as long as i don't end up being one of the ones that end up with symptons the rest of my life).

Do you have the ring rash? That's the the biggest indicator that you probably have lyme.

Depending on the severity/progress of the disease, you could be placed on a cycle of antibiotics, or a 14-28 day process of IVs.

I had the latter of the two in high school. It was not fun.

Have a two inch diameter bullseye looking red spot on my back. It's out of my sight but my wife saw noticed it today. Not sure how long it was there.

Sounds like a classic case of Lyme disease. Get it checked out ASAP. It's very treatable when caught early. If you let it go long enough, it can turn into chronic lyme disease. My Mom has that, and it has utterly ruined her quality of life.

My housemate had it for years and years and was really disabled by the time she got help. Get it taken care of immediately, and get more than one opinion if necessary. Some doctors don't like to diagnose it.

Jeez, they don't want to diagnose anymore do they. Gave me something to take twice a day for two weeks and said that if I have flu-like symptons that I should come back to schedule a blood test.

That's annoying. But yeah, definitely keep an eye on it. My house mate was in a different situation, having had it for a decade or more undiagnosted. But she found it hard to get diagnosed. I guess there's one test most doctors like to use that is not all that accurate, and it's hard to get them to use the other test that is more accurate.

Sounds like you caught it soon enough though if you still have the rash, I think.

Well, the alternative is to wait for a test, then get a more formal diagnosis, and *then* you start a fairly harmless but very effective round of antibiotics to treat the lyme or infection or whatnot.

Or you just give the treatment and be done with it.

So, in other words, stop complaining and just stay out of direct sunlight for a couple of weeks.
