Just when it seemed parking meters were getting better, new technology has wiped it all out. Things were going so well when they allowed you to pay by credit card, not needing loose change anymore.
But now in Santa Monica, new parking meters sense when your car has left the spot, and strip the meter of all remaining time. No longer can you inherit someone else's time.
As if that's not bad enough, the same sensor stops you from adding time to your meter to extend your stay. It will not allow more money to be added until the car parked there drives away.
It's dark parking days, indeed.
