What aspects of a single player game are the same as multiplayer and will help me improve and what things don't match up so well?
Or another way to say it - If the goal is better multiplayer skill over the single player game performance, how would you play?
Draft/trade away the future to match your MP team so that you can try different game plans? Spend time doing draft analysis to able to learn how to pick out better players? What other things can I try?

I joined the FOF community a little more than 1 year ago. There’s no substitute for jumping into a MP league and taking your lumps. You can learn much more quickly by observing how a human GM manages a team vs. the AI. Look for a league with friendly guys who share knowledge. Also, there are many tips and tricks threads here at FOFC.
I did use SP to evaluate different games plans I wanted to try in MP leagues. For example, there are different opinions re: the effectiveness of blitzing. So, I’d build a defensive GP and run many seasons. Then, adjust the GP for more or less blitzing, rinse, repeat and compare the results.
Good luck and welcome to the wonderful MP world.<O:p</O:p

Quick item here -- do not think you are learning much about multi player drafting or about the multi player free agent market when playing single player. The AI teams' evaluation of talent and potential leaves a lot to be desired, especially with a game that has been so deeply "cracked" by its player community over the years, like this one has.

Thanks, though I've been in a MP league (DFL) for awhile now, just trying to get better!
I'm going to try to use single-player now to test out some gameplans and wanted to see what tips others could give me for how best to do that along with any other things I might want to try.

Very true. I'm thinking more along the lines of trying to improve my own reading of players. I suppose if done right I should quickly have a dominant team.
Edit: I haven't played a single player game since starting to play multiplayer a few years ago.
