Damn.

His Wikipedia page suggests that he had inoperable brain cancer of some sort, which prompted his suicide, but I've not been able to find that firmly reported anywhere.

I was pretty shocked to see this last night. Serious bummer--he really knew how to make "guy" movies, and was great with action and tension.

Man On Fire is one of my favorite movies period, and The Last Boy Scout is one of my top guilty pleasures. Tons of movies on that list you just sit down and watch whenever they come on TV.

RIP Tony.

Wouldn't you? "Hey there is a main character here who is supposed to be a fat, Asian guy. Is there any way we could re-write it for Denzel?"

that hopper-walken scene in true romance is an all timer

Scott was attached to return to direct the sequel to Top Gun. It apparently took some doing to get Bruckheimer, Cruise and Scott to all agree to be a part of the project, so it will be interesting to see if that project survives.

Gawd help us all if Bruckheimer turns to his friend Bay to replace Scott and then pays Cruise enough money to settle for it (although honestly, I don't think Cruise would do that).

Well ABC News is reporting it. idk what their source is though - these days it might just be his wikipedia page.

I really liked Days of Thunder, enjoyed the hell out of True Romance (I need to see that again btw), and Crimson Tide was my favorite movie for a long, long time. I still remember watching it the movie theater and walking out of the theater feeling like a total badass. Sorry to see him go, especially like that. RIP.

Unstoppable was under the radar good. I didn't expect much, but it is very enjoyable.

Hollywood is a copycat town. We'll see what directors are paying attention now.

Brain cancer is a bitch.
