The comedienne passed away today at the age of 95.

That clip probably isn't going to seem very groundbreaking for some of the younger members of the board. But check the date, 1977. There was her, there was a young(ish) Joan Rivers, and for this sort of schtick on a national scale that was about it for female comics.

Her gag file -- a steel cabinet with 48 file-drawers containing more than 50,000 jokes and gags typewritten on index cards during her career -- is in the National Museum of American History.

I remember her on Johnny Carson one night when I was 18 or 19. Don't remember what her routine was but she had a roomful of us laughing our asses off without anything crude (I mean it was ~1979-80 not much you could do on tv). Just funny stuff.

Didn't realize she was still alive. Wow, she lived a long life. I hope I'm that funny at that age.
