Although technically legal, they're unfortunately not recognized outside of Sealand, which itself is only a self-declared nation not recognized by anyone. The dude who owns it is a fascinating character, though.

More information on Sealand itself, and I also dug this up in the comments:


Another addition to the Sealand Legacy is the the United Nations Law of the Sea Conference in 1982 adopted language which closed the International Law loophole under which the Principality of Sealand became a legal existance if not recognized entity. A legal existance grandfathered by the established concept of Ex-post facto in the law.

I wonder if that means if someone bought this place, that the grandfather clause would be revoked.

Principality of Hutt River is another "micro" nation.

It was inadvertently recognized as independent by the Australian government.
