I have often wondered about this. Can coaches make a big difference on a team on a single player league. Can a coach go to a team that hasn't been very successful recently and immediately turn them around with all the same players they had before (like coaches can in real life).

Or is it really completely dependent on which players the team has or doesn't have.

I am sure the coaches ability to affect change is stunted by minor % calculations. The intent of the game is for YOU to fix the team and turn it around not the after-thought implementation of coaches.

It's very difficult to quantify by how much, but I firmly believe that the "near-perfect" head coaches that I have in nearly all leagues are a part of my success.

True, bottom line...the head coach is just another piece of the puzzle.

Yep, I was just wondering if there would be coaches like Bill Parcells or something who turn around teams everywhere they go.

That'd be sorta neat. I don't think the effect is that pronounced or the entire game would be built around finding that coach, and coach ratings is a pretty simplistic area of the game.

But it does sorta matter. Bad coaches are going to hamper your efforts. You should try to get good coaches. Especially HCs (the coordinators affect only development, while the HC affects playcalling on both sides of the ball, as well as motivation/discipline(penalties)/injuries).
