Getting out Zane now was actually a good thing, albeit for weird reasons. :) They made it LOOK like at least that it was mainly because Russell COULD have an idol. Everyone always says that of everyone else. Zane is just a pointblank liar and everyone knows it so good that they bagged him early. They can always just ignore Russell's bitching next time.

Penner is making himself a HUGE target. Luckily they won or he would have been toast. I'm a big believer in the fact that every episode something can happen that changes things so next time things might be better for him socially. I can't wait until Jeff Kent is exposed. :) I've always wondered about sports people being identified. Whenever it happens it puzzles me. I just never see sports guy's faces up close enough to know it was them if i saw them. They are more known to me simply by their name and stats.

Yellow youngin team blech. I hope Skupin goes far. He's not in a bad position now as he's part of a core yet he could flip the alliance in the future without them having a clue. Poor Lisa. She needs to hope they keep winning. She really needs to chill out and just go with the flow. She's probably right to keep her identity secret. This whole season is full of people that want to oust the survivor returnees let alone someone who is legitimately famous. :)

RC crawling around on all fours instantly made that the best Survivor puzzle ever. Don't know if the doc made the right decision in taking Cookies over Roxy though I'm not sure it'll matter as they'll probably merge before it ever gets to a 3 man tribal council and she's still ahead of Russell on the tribe chain.

Abi can't win this game, but she's clearly nuts enough to make it interesting the further she gets. Penner is just hard to watch with how damn manic he is.
At this point I'd have to guess that one of the main 4 from the red tribe probably has the best chance as they're the group that seems fragmented the least.

Yeah, I've checked out on a handful of seasons in the past (the Jimmy Johnson one was the last one) out of boredom, but I like this cast a lot.

Jeff Kent has been awesome to watch. The crazy Brazilian has all kind of potential for some type of epic meltdown. Michael gets injured every single episode. You have one of the best butterfaces in the history of Survivor. Blair from Facts of Life.

I think the fact that they have made it through the first several episodes without really voting off anyone interesting (which is usually what causes me to tune out early) is what makes this season strong.

Yeah, actually I think the Mike Skupin tribe is probably the most interesting tribe in Survivor history that hasn't gone to a tribal council yet. They need the votes since there are only 6 person tribes. That Artis guy. Wow he really needs to check in.

I'm guessing tho that instead of a straight merge, they will do a mix and match of tribes and tribe alignment at this point. Maybe next week. Altho it is funny. If they have another challenge as is, it's really the same as usual. After all Malcolm and Denise were the only 2 from that tribe that ever participated in the challenges :)

LOL! That's awesome ! :D I didn't realize it before but you are right! Alan Alda! I am so glad he stayed as it would just be dull without him. Was awesome when he traded the rice for reward. I do think that was the right move. They didn't have much rice left anyway. I think the problem has been neither tribe has lost many people until now, therefore the rice has gone faster than usual. Seeing Artis bitch like a little girl has been kinda funny. Skupin really has not been featured at all for several weeks really. I wonder if that means he goes deep.

Most likely editing made it seem more likely that they were going after Penner. They had to realize that if they did that it would make it 2-2 in terms of women/men which is how that tribe was divided as recent as the previous episode. Glad to see it wasn't a stupid move by the men (which usually costs them in this show as they never realize that the women are aligning against them until it is too late). It gets rather tiring when there is always a group of women on this show that try to play the "let's get rid of the men / woman power" card. The only time there have been a group of guys that had a goal of "let's get rid of the women" have been when the tribes were setup as men versus women but that never lasts after the merge.

Artis is just a follower and will only follow Pete and Abi. His only motive is to get rid of Skupin, just like Jeff's only motive is to get rid of PEnner. This will cause both of them to basically be followers the rest of the game I think and just GIVE the game to PEte and Abi. Lisa too I don't think is very strong willed and will just go with the big group. Only weird thing is that PEte seems to immediately trust Malcolm immediately and told him he had an idol. I really hope all the idol holders (and secret holders) are exposed. SUcks when people leave the game knowing info about others.

I don't know if it would have been cut and dry even if Penner didn't win immunity. It should have been cut and dry that Skupin went home if Penner won based on their play of "They are the next two no matter what" that we were led to believe was the case. It shouldn't have mattered who won, just that the same one of those two didn't win the next two.

Jeff - Had a very good chance of getting to the end if he would have stopped the Penner crusade. He should have used him as a strong ally and his move last week is what eventually cost him more than this week.

Not sure what Penner and Michael voted the way they did, especially Penner.

It looks like things should get REAL interesting the rest of the way and I think Malcolm and Denise both have very good chances to win this.

From what I recall, the idea was that Penner voted for Abi so that they would get out one of Pete or Abi if they used their idol. Don't think it was discussed during the episode but there was a comment about it somewhere (if I recall). The problem was that Skupin was a complete and utter idiot and flipped back to the tribe that hated him.

Can I repeat that? The tribe that hated him and wanted nothing to do with him. When his group lost the reward challenge, Abi was treating him as if he didn't exist and, based on what he had been telling Penner, this was consistent with how they had treated him and RC.

Frankly, it's always amazing (at least based on what they show in the episode) why people vote the way they do. What is Lisa's plan? To reach the final 5 then pray for a miracle to bring her to the final 3? Newsflash, you're more likeable than Pete, Artis and Abi so there's no way in hell they're bringing you to the finals! And Skupin? Skupin doesn't know what the hell is going on any more.

If Penner can convince Skupin that it's better to take those two as far as they can I can easily see Denise, Malcolm and Carter getting picked off. Then he turns on Skupin and Lisa.

Penner's vote for Abi last week likely didn't mean much. If he votes Pete, then it's a tie vote between Pete and Jeff. No way does Penner draw rocks to save Jeff. So he would've flipped and Jeff goes home either way.

As for Penner going forward, I don't think he needs a goat strategy. If he makes it to the final three, then I'd suspect he'll get a ton of credit for strategic gameplay and being able to survive so long. Plus, everyone seems to personally like him (except Jeff) eventhough they're trying to vote him out.

Penner is so good at communication because he is a professional writer. Also makes him very entertaining to listen to (and the Alan Alda voice doesn't hurt ;) ) BUt all these things DO make him a dangerous player. Only people that seem to be immune are young brats (which he also had a problem with his last two times on the show) and of course other guys who might see his angles (like Jeff)

I think he's got an uphill climb all the way to final 3 since he is now an obvious favorite to win. Malcolm and Denise really need to show they belong here. Pete and Abi and obviouis final 3 candidates. Really at this point I think whoever ends up in the final 3 with Pete and Abi will win :)

The history behind Penner is that I lked him early in his first show and then he really got under my skin as his seasons moved on. He seemed to be very disingenious.

This season I started off not liking him because of the same reason but he has grown on me as the season has progressed. I would like to see Malcolm/Denise/Penner in the final three but there is no way that anyone wants to bring Malcolm/Denise to the final three with them.

That is where the show starts to get annoying, once you see people positioning themselves to be in the final three with the two most annoying players in an attempt to gain the votes. That is where a final three hurts the game. If it is a final two the person trying to run the show would not want two weasels with him/her when it is down to three or their chances of making the final two take a HUGE hit.

I could be wrong, but I think Penner's speech to Lisa about "telling a story" and how the audience would respond to what they saw from her was one the very few times in the show's history that they've broken the fourth wall and acknowledged that this is a television show and the players know it.

It must come up all the time at camp, but they never show it. I guess they figured the speech as important enough to the episode (and maybe the whole season) that it had to be there.

What are you talking about? Last season was a 7-2-0 result. The seasons before that were 6-3-0 and 8-1-0. The closest they've been to a tie was in Fans vs. Favorites when they had a 8 jury members and 2 finalists which ended in a 5-3 result.

I don't think they'd do 8 jury members with a final 3 because the votes are still almost always between two people and a tie would still be highly likely. In the 10 seasons they've had three finalists, only once have all three received a vote.

I've enjoyed this season quite a bit. It's the first in a while where there wasn't this one group controlling everything and just picking off lemmings one by one. Ever since the merge, it's been pretty fluid IMO and while not all votes have been shockers, there's definitely been some surprises. It seems like more people are playing the game this year, which is good. The tribals have been entertaining and overall the cast has been pretty likable.

Abi's bullshit has definitely worn on me, of course and yes, Lisa's struggles are a bit tired, but they are nothing like that crazy Hantz kid that dragged on forever. Overall, I'm enjoying this season.

Interesting thing is that when Jeff asked who would have voted for Malcolm if he had reached the final 3, only 2 pple put up their hands, though I suspect that was with hindsight and the passing of time.

Really thought Denise shot herself in the foot with her responses. She came off arrogant and condescending and she was lucky that the jury really didn't like Skupin and Lisa.

Agree. Actually Corinne is the closest thing to Colton amongst all past Survivors. I can watch with her on, but just barely. She is a terrible person.

As for the finale, way to go Denise -- no masterminds or great players on this season but I do think the best player won. I disagree about her jury speech, the unapologetic non-ass-kissing was fantastic. I've been wanting to see that for years, she's like the Bulworth of Survivor or something.

Kudos to the jury for not being too bitter -- except Penner. I give this lecture every season, but memo to all survivors: There will never be another Sue Hawk. You're all trying too hard. Just please stop.

Penner is who I thought he was. I still enjoy watching him but I didn't buy his schtick at all. Sometimes I think we overthink the final jury. We knew Denise or Malcolm would win if they went.

I agree I thought Denise's tribal was great. She didn't stammer and flipflop. She did a "tell it like it is" response which is a good stance. Michael stammered and went into outer space on tribal I think he totally lost it one tribal. And Lisa was just bad with her responses of "My brother told me this is just a game" and "her too sensitive stuff. That never goes down well especially with people from her tribe. If she'd have been more ruthless to the people from her tribe she may have gotten more respect, but she went for the "honor and who I am" route. I didn't know who would win. THought Skupin would be a good chance but Denise definitely did well.

Russell's brother was on BB this summer and, as expected, was a complete assclown. he got kicked off the show after getting into a fight with one of the other contestants. as an added bonus, he got arrested a week later for DUI (http://www.tmz.com/2012/07/26/willie-hantz-big-brother-arrested/)

Congrats to Denise for the win. As long as it was Malcolm or Denise, Mrs. Mota and I would be happy.

I really loved the final tribal council speech from Denise, she came out with supreme confidence, told everybody she wasn't going to cower or apologize like so many past contestants have.
Although of course she ends up apologizing to Abby for being mean.

It's funny. I think the producers try their best to edit things to show the winner in a positive light, especially toward the end of the season, but I agree with those that thought Denise was awful in the final tribal council. She has the opposite of charisma. Just my opinion, though.

I actually thought Lisa did a pretty good job responding to the jury. I've never liked Penner at all, but I was starting to come around on him until his "question" to the jury - total douche. Hope he's not on any future shows.
