Hi guys,

I've updated player ratings to reflect the 2012 season. The roster set still has beginning of the season rosters.

A few notes:
-It's not possible to switch a team from a 3-4 to a 4-3 DEF or vice versa even if you set everyone to 3-4 or 4-3 defensive positions. Consequently, about 1/4th of the league plays the wrong defensive set. The only way to fix this is if Jim updates the game. :)

-If you want to play with your favorite team in its real DEF I recommend downloading the CSV excel file, correcting player positions, and using the player file creator to make your own roster file. This is also a good tool to use if you disagree with my ratings. I will probably play the game with my Colts playing a 3-4 DEF (this roster has them playing in a 4-3).

-I think the overall initial talent level is similar to what it is several seasons into a career which is good though I doubt it's perfect. I'm a little worried about young players being overrated though. There have been an awful lot of promising players the last couple of seasons.

-The salary cap is set to 128 million. I know the it's 120.6 million in real life but to many computer teams seem to have issues handling the cap. Hopefully a little more room will help them manage it better. I considered making the cap even higher and I may if I update this roster in the future.

-If anyone wants to host it that would be great as some people seem to have difficulties with downloading files from RapidShare.

-If you find any duplicate players let me know. I did vlookups to try to eliminate this but it's possible I missed something if somebody's name was slightly different in two different places (Mike and Michael for example). I believe my 2011 roster had a couple of duplicates. If there are duplicates, I'm guessing one player is 99 (Free agent) and the other is on a team.

Just to keep tabs on current issues:

Victor Cruz and Andre Brown of the Giants are available in late free agency. Doesn't appear to be a cap issue. Will probably just make each of them have two year contracts whenever I update this again. For anyone, who cares and doesn't want to wait, it's an easy fix by a.) downloading the csv b.) changing Cruz's and Brown's "years left" to 2 and then adding a 2nd year contract c) creating a new roster set with the updated csv.

Don't know if I am being silly here but this roster looks one year out of date, i.e. perfect for this time last year. I am reasonably confident I am using the right method!.. DL the .Csv, use the player file application to generate a .fdt file and then open new game and point to that file?

Anyone else having the same issue!!??
Thanks

Ignore me, the fdt file works fine but the csv gives me the wrong year!

That is the right method. Are you updating the start year to 2012 when you create the player file? That's easy to miss. You can also change to the cap to whatever you want on this player file creator.

pretty good job on the file. It's qb and wr rich but i'm not complaining :)
Just got through first season with redskins and rg3 and went 7-9 with an 85qb rating. Packers beat the ravens in the superbowl. Everything seemed very accurate with end of year stats and playoff teams. i haven't played single player in a long time but this perked my interest.

Good job with this roster file.

Thanks for putting so much effort into it.

I'm working on a player ratings update that will be finished by Monday. I'm also giving a few players that will likely be franchised (Joe Flacco, Ryan Clady, and Jairus Byrd) an additional contract year at a high cap number since the computer never seems to franchise anyone. I'm keeping beginning of season rosters though.

I've updated player ratings in the roster. The roster stills has beginning of the season rosters (i.e. Mike Thomas is still on the Jaguars and Aqib Talib is still a Buc).

If anyone wants to host the file, let me know. Rapidshare takes them down if it doesn't meet a certain download quota.

I have a drop box that I could host it in.

I'm getting permission denied, even after signing up with RapidShare. Help!

Thanks for this!

One quick question. I've not used alternate files for rosters in a few years, so a quick questoin, which may not be specific to this file. I just started the league five times as teh jags, and each time with the X factor truned off and yet I got radically different ratings for folks. Is that normal? For example, Uchi went from an 85 rated OG in one dynasty to a 39 rated one in another, and everything in between, and that;s with XFactor off. Is that normal for FOF in general and I just missed it, normal for other rosters or just a quirk of this one?

I'm not sure. I've noticed this as well.

The player creator is fairly straight forward -
1. You create a CSV
2. You use the player file creator and enter in the year the file starts in as well as the cap
3. Assuming you didn't make any errors, you click a button, click on the CSV file you created, and you're done.

The only possible issues I could see with it seemingly having large swings in player ratings:
1. I had FOF2004 also installed when I created it.
2. I didn't fill in games played for everyone this year and last year.

Any chance someone could re-post these? I had my hard drive wipe out a while back...I may have a backup somewhere but haven't had a chance to go hunting yet.
