Tell me about it. In the 50's the Lions freakin rocked. The good news is by 2050 the Lions should be an alright team.

People used to talk football here, but then hattrick came in.
Ah... glorious hattrick... :)

Hockey is soccer for people with no talent. :)
Don't worry Lion fans, my signature will be proved right.

Gold I like it. I think we can win it all by 2006. At least we're not cowboy fans :)

The Lions are my new second favorite team. :)
They have four WVU players on their roster right now, including two of my recent favorite James "Dirty" Davis and Avon Cobourne. Both are good kids and solid players. Barrett Green and Antwan Lake are the other two.
I'll be keeping an eye on the Lions this year.

Who's Miss Talking Football?
Did she have to win a pageant to earn that title?

Speaking of football, the Lions had a really good draft. They picked up solid players and--important for a team trying to generate excitement--name players like Rodgers and Bailey.
I don't watch a lot of Detroit games, but I have a question for those that do. What do you think of Harrington and McMahon? McMahon seems like a fiery guy with the athletic tools for the position. I understand that Joey H. is the golden boy and the man in Detroit, but do you think that McMahon will eventually catch on somewhere? I've liked him ever since that Thanksgiving game against the Packers. I have not watched him enough, however, to have an informed opinion on him.

I like the way McMahon takes charge in the huddle, I saw his grab a lineman by the face mask and give him a serious tongue lashing for starting a fight with the other team. You gotta like the guy's Energy.
Harrington is gonna be their star for years to come barring major injuries, I'm really hoping McMahon finds a team willing to build around him. He's fun to watch.

RendeR, when his time is up in Detroit, he'll get hit shot somewhere. He's already shown the potential and leadership to get a chance. There's not many strong leader QB's to go around. The way things are working out for him may be good. With Harrington around, there is little pressure on McMahon.

I miss talking about football.
But then I just talked about not talking about it, so I don't feel so bad.

If Jake Delhomme got a chance McMahon definately will. As a Viking fan I was actually happy when the Lions took Harrington to take McMahon's place as starter.

Won't work. Although you could say we already have one - it's called college. ;)
Football players have a relatively short shelf life, compared to other sports leagues. If they're not good enough to get drafted, or at least signed to an NFL practice squad, when they're fresh out of college (or, God forbid, high school), even if they were able to prove themselves in a "minor" league, they'd have to do it pretty quick, before injuries and age made them no longer suitable as realistic NFL prospects.

plus he's from Rutgers
:D
I think McMahon will be a good quarterback for some team in the future. I just wish we could keep him here in Detroit as our backup.

It's sad. I'll post a football post about something, a Free Agent move, uniform change, stuff like that - 3, 4, or 6 replies. Then someone will post a thread about HornsManiac's farts and in one hour there'll be 30 replies.

football season is on, people.
Didn't you all watch the Admirals beat the unbeaten Galaxy in a 4th quarter heroic QBed by Shaun Hill?
Really, I've seen one Admirals home game 'live' the latest three seasons and this year 'we' seem to have the strongest team, 'we' should get out of the 4 and 5 win seasons streak this year already.
Where's rkmsuf when you need him?

mckerney,
I just hope Shaun Hill will do better in Minnesota then Spergon Wynn did...
At least he's looking better then Wynn did 2 years ago, though so do the receivers and running backs. On the other hand, Wynn had a much better OL (I think all 5 starters were part of NFL practise squads last season.)
