IWS 203 THE RESULTS
Really nothing pithy to offer here, kinda short for time.
1 - in 20 years, what will be the most common method of US voting other than casting an in person ballot on designated election day?
20 online
2 early, text
1 phone, absentee, mail
Eliminator question, though I honestly didn't see that coming.
2 - In 20 years, what percent of US votes will be cast in person on election day?
15 50%
4 20%
3 0%
2 75%
1 10,30,70
Stupid, as always, loves him some round numbers.
3 - What state with more consonants than vowels in its name will prove most intriguing in this presidential race as results are tallied?
17 Florida
6 Pennsylvania
1 WI, NC, OH, CO
Keep it simple, pick the site of the most well documented election night intrigue in both history and recent memory, Stupid loves that. Really tried to thread the needle with the question (obviously) to make it interesting, with modestly effective results I guess.
4 - What party, outside the current top two, will be the next to register 5% or better in a US presidential election?
20 Libertarian
4 Green
3 Tea Party
Alas, I think this is a legitimately wide open question, with the correct answer very possibly being something we haven't heard of yet. Got an array, but another wide margin winner, sadly. Might be the biggest victory margin the libs will see in our lifetime, natch.
5 - If Mitt Romney is elected President, he gets to pick portraits of previous presidents to be displayed to set a tone. He'll make obvious picks of Washington, Lincoln, and Reagan, and then he'll get people talking by also picking...whom?
7 George W Bush
3 Obama, Jefferson, Eisenhower
2 Clinton
1 each Roosevelt, Kennedy, Bush Sr, Coolidge, Adams, TR & Jefferson, Joseph Smith
I thought this was the best question of the lot, and am glad it more or less delivered and that the winner had, after all was said and done, a pretty Stupid rationale. I think I would have missed this one, myself.
6 - After Mr. Obama, when will be the next year the US elects a president who is demographically anything other than a "white male" candidate?
11 2016
10 2020
2 2024
1 2032, 2052, 2100, never
A curious split, as I see it. If you're going simple why the divide between '16 and '20? I don't really get it, other than maybe the thinking that the juggernaut that is President Romney will remain both solidly popular and verifiably caucasian-male through the next four stretch? Okay, anyway... Simple wins again with uh, when's the next one?
And with that, we have our scores:
