Lets take a look at how our recruits teams finished the 2011-2012 season.
Louisville (Tim Shepard)
The Cardinals finished the season ranked 23rd, with a 25-8 overall record and a 13-5 record in the Big East. They lost in the Sweet Sixteen of the NCAA Tournament.
Kansas (Jawouk Bafou)
The Jayhawks finished the season ranked 14th. They had a 26-9 overall record and a 12-4 record in the Big Twelve. They also lost in the NCAA Sweet Sixteen.
New Mexico (Eddie Chilton)
The Lobos finished with a 19-12 overall record, 12-4 in the Mountain West. They got a bid to the NIT, where they lost in the first round.
Stanford (Rob Nielsen)
The Cardinal won a title last year.. the CBI title. They finished with a 25-11 overall record, just 10-8 in the tough Pac-Ten.
Idaho State (Avery Thomas)
It was a rough season as they finished 11-20 overall, and 7-9 in the Big Sky. As expected, no postseason. The good thing is that Avery could come in right off the bat and produce.

August 2012
SG Fox McCloud- North Carolina and Michigan State have bounced off of Fox's top 5, replaced by Villanova and Kansas. Only Duke and Kansas have not offered yet.
SG David Ginsberg- Pitt and West Virginia have jumped to the top of Davids list and both have offered. Duke, Syracuse, and Michigan St. are also in the top 5 but none have offered.
PF Deacon Palmer- Kansas appears to be the front runner at this point, with Ole Miss, Memphis, Tennessee, and Mississippi State also in the mix. Kansas and Memphis have offered.
PG Mike Schaplowsky- A very interesting month for Mike, as his top 5 has completely changed. Now in the mix are Nebraska, Creighton, Oklahoma, Iowa State, and Iowa. Nebraska has offered, and dear god Mike better not sign with Creighton!
SG Da Law- Ohio, Akron, Appalachian State, Pitt, and Cleveland State, are Da Law's top 5. Ohio, Akron, and App State have offered. Even though Da Law was the leading scorer for SG's in high school, there are other aspects of his game that may lead to him signing with a mid-major.
SG Jack McCoy- Nobody has offered Jack yet, but UConn is looking at him hard. Hartford, Yale, Central Connecticut State, and Fordham are also in the mix.

September 2012
SG Fox McCloud- It appears that Fox has already made up his mind, he seems to want to be a Jayhawk, as Kansas is the only team he is looking at right now.
SG David Ginsberg- David also seems to be close to making up his mind. Pittsburgh and Kansas are in the running. Pitt has offered, Kansas hasn't.
PF Deacon Palmer- Unbelievable! Kansas must have Phil Jackson for a coach, or a completely mastermind recruiter. The big Deacon has limited his choices to.. Kansas and Kansas. The Jayhawks are looking to have the #1 recruiting class easily.
PG Mike Schaplowsky- The top 5 hasn't changed, but now Creighton has offered as well. Please Mike, no! Do not go to Creighton!!
SG Da Law- For whatever reason, Ohio is pushing hard to get the top scoring SG's services, and Da Law is listening. Right now Ohio is the only school Da Law is considering.
SG Jack McCoy- Bad news for Jack, as UConn has backed off of the recruiting efforts. Hartford, Brown, Northeastern, Dartmouth, and Fordham are the top 5 for Jack, and Fordham is the only one that hasn't offered. Probably not the way Jack wanted his recruiting to go.

October 2012
SG Fox McCloud- Things have opened up for Fox, as Wake Forest, Virginia, and St. Josephs have joined the recruiting trail. Only Virginia and St. Josephs have offered.
SG David Ginsberg- While Pittsburgh and Kansas are still the front runners for David, only Pitt has offered. Villanova, Syracuse, and Michigan State have also joined the top 5.
PF Deacon Palmer- Kansas definitely wants the Deacon, as they have offered. Who wouldn't want a big body like that. However, Kentucky and Michigan State are now in the running as well.
PG Mike Schaplowsky- It appears to be between Nebraska and Creighton for Mike. While I'm not happy with either choice, I can tolerate Nebraska a heck of a lot more than I can Creighton.
SG Da Law- Recruiting is opening up for Da Law again. While Ohio is the only school that has offered.. Miami-Ohio, Cincinnati, Kent State, and Michigan are all in the mix now.
SG Jack McCoy- Jack seems to have narrowed it down to Brown and Hartford, and both have offered. The big schools just didn't come for Jack.

November 2012
SG Fox McCloud- Top 5 is still the same, but Virginia and St. Josephs are now at the top, as they have offered. Duke, Wake, and Kansas have not.
SG David Ginsberg- While there were still schools in the mix, Pittsburgh recruited David the hardest and it paid off. David has committed to the Panthers.
PF Deacon Palmer- Deacon was waiting for a scholarship offer from somebody other than Kansas, but one never came. So Deacon has committed to the Jayhawks, where he will join Jawouk Bafou next season.
PG Mike Schaplowsky- Thank god! While I'm not totally happy at where my recruit is ending up, I am happy that Creighton pulled their scholarship offer, leaving Mike to commit to the Big Ten and Nebraska.
SG Da Law- The top 5 has remained the same, with Ohio, Cincinnati, and Michigan sending offers Da Laws way. Miami-Ohio and Kent State haven't offered yet, so its still wide open.
SG Jack McCoy- Just not sure about this move at all, as Jack has committed to Brown. His academics don't exactly make him Brown material. Gotta say I'm curious how this will play out.

As we get set to start the 2012-2013 season, my focus is making sure our recruits get playing time. Obviously redshirts, academic suspensions, and injuries are a possibility. But I don't want a recruit to not redshirt but also ride the pine all year. So at the start of every season, I will progress through training camps, without saving, and checking the teams depth charts. Kind of like a trial thing. Then I will give you guys a chance to determine, based on your position on the depth chart, whether you wish to redshirt or not. So here we go, for the 2012-2013 season.
PF Tim Shepard (Louisville)- Well it appears that despite his good GPA in high school, Tim isn't getting it done academically and has been placed on academic suspension until January 1st. rjolley, I would consider redshirting Tim, he's not gonna play the first half of the season either way. But the choice is yours.
SF Jawouk Bafou (Kansas)- He is projected to be the starting SF, probably no reason to redshirt him.
PG Eddie Chilton (New Mexico)- While he is not projected to be a starter, he is listed 7th on the depth chart. 2nd off the bench oughta see him some good minutes.
SF Rob Nielsen (Stanford)- Well, poor Rob doesn't get a choice, as it appears that Stanford is planning on redshirting him this season no matter what. Nothing against Rob, but Stanford already has 3 players that will shift between SG/SF that quite frankly are better than Rob is right now. Sorry coffee warlord, looks like a redshirt for you no matter what.
SG Avery Thomas (Idaho St.)- Looks like they plan to start him at SF, so probably not a real reason to redshirt him.
I will not carry on with this until I hear from everybody on what they wish to do with their players. So everybody let me know ASAP. This is the interaction part of the dynasty. ;)

11-16-2012, 06:17 PM
Nice! I like how you are doing this. BTW what is "redshirting"?
collegesportsfanms
11-16-2012, 10:06 PM
crimsonfox, basically redshirting is... the best way I can describe it is to sit a player out for the year without him losing a year of eligibility. Every college player has 1 redshirt year they can use. Normally this is done when the player would not see a lot of playing time in a particular year, or in some cases, a redshirt can be used when a player gets seriously injured early in the season.
Does that make sense? So basically with Fox McCloud, lets say that he signs with a school for next season, but finds out that the coach wants to redshirt him. He would come back next season still considered a freshman. Hopefully that clarifies it for you
DavidCorperial
11-16-2012, 10:26 PM
Basically, you can play for 4 years of college sports, but can do so in the first 5 years, a redshirt does not count against the 4.
rjolley
11-16-2012, 10:59 PM
Redshirt Tim and send a coach to make sure he goes to class.
As for redshirting, that's the D-1 rule. The lower levels are 10 semesters to play 8 and they don't have to be consecutive...something like that.
Comey
11-20-2012, 07:55 PM
No redshirt. Might as well see where it goes.
collegesportsfanms
11-20-2012, 11:10 PM
As we get ready for the first week of the regular season, lets take a look at how our first 5 recruits stack up.
PF Tim Shepard (Lousville)- As per Tims decision, he will be redshirting this season.
SF Jawouk Bafou (Kansas)- Jawouk will start the season at SF.
PG Eddie Chilton (New Mexico)- Eddie is 7th on the depth chart, which means he should be 2nd off the bench.
SF Rob Nielsen (Stanford)- Stanford's coach has decided to redshirt Rob this season due to the fact that he wouldn't have got much playing time behind Stanfords upperclassmen SF and SG's
SG Avery Thomas (Idaho State)- Avery is one of the more talented players on this Idaho State team, and he will start at SG.
Just a reminder, at least for the first season or 2, I will be reporting on every single game! With only 5 recruits to report on this season and 11 next season, it shouldn't bog me down too much. Also, even though Rob and Tim are redshirting, I'm sure they would like to know how their teams are doing. After all they'll be sitting on the bench in street clothes. :) So I will be reporting on their teams as well.

Nov. 19-25, 2012
Louisville finished the GDS Classic this week, and Stanford played in the Alaska Invitational. Also, New Mexico had their first game in the Orlando Classic. Let's start with the GDS Classic.
Nov. 22 -- (4) Arizona State vs. (1) #19 Louisville -- This one was tight all the way, but Louisville survived to win 68-67.
Nov. 23 -- (2) #2 Oklahoma State vs. (1) #19 Louisville -- Another tight one that the Cardinals won late, winning the GDS Classic with a 63-59 victory.
Now we move to the Alaska Invitational:
Nov. 23 -- (7) Santa Clara vs. (2) #16 Stanford -- A low scoring game won by the wrong team. Stanford loses 53-49.
Nov. 24 -- (3) Ole Miss vs. (2) #16 Stanford -- What should have been a winners bracket semifinal turned into a losers bracket semifinal, and Stanford got a win, 78-65.
Nov. 25 -- (2) #16 Stanford vs. (1) Purdue -- This should have been the championship game, instead it was the 5th place game. Unfortunately, Stanford couldn't hang on to a 13 point halftime lead, and scored just 12 points in the second half, as they lost 73-68.
New Mexico opened up the Orlando Classic this week:
Nov. 25 -- (8) Central Conn. State vs. (1) New Mexico -- A balanced game for Eddie Chilton, as he had 7 points, 5 boards, and 3 assists, and the Lobos won their first round game 71-57.
Now for the 5 non-tournament games this week:
Nov. 21 -- Texas-San Antonio @ Idaho State -- Avery Thomas scored just 6 points on 2-6 shooting, both buckets three point buckets, but Idaho State lost 54-44.
Nov. 22 -- Nebraska @ #20 Kansas -- Jawouk Bafou was 2-6 from the field, all three point attempts for his only 6 points. He did contribute 7 boards in a 62-50 Jayhawk win.
Nov. 23 -- Idaho @ Idaho State -- Avery Thomas led all scorers this game with 18 points as Idaho State got their first win of the season, 57-47.
Nov. 24 -- #20 Kansas @ Centenary -- 15 points for Jawouk Bafou as he led the Jayhawks to a 71-54 victory.
Nov. 25 -- Idaho State @ Colorado State -- Idaho State led by 6 at halftime but got outscored 53-16 in the second half and lost 76-45. Avery Thomas scored just 4 points and had 4 boards.

Nov. 26-Dec. 2, 2012
New Mexico was the only team playing in a tournament this week, as they had 2 games in the Orlando Classic, so we'll start there:
Nov. 27 -- (5) Cleveland State vs. (1) New Mexico -- This was a fantastic semifinal game as New Mexico survived a last second shot to win 58-56. Fast Eddie Chilton scored all 4 of his points at the line tonight, as he was actually the PG in at the end of the game and went 4-5 from the line to help the Lobos win.
Nov. 28 -- (6) Toledo vs. (1) New Mexico -- Toledo was a surprise team in this championship, and they surprised all the way to the win, beating the Lobos 57-54. New Mexico will have to settle for second place after leading by 9 at the half. Eddie Chilton scored 4 points, had 1 board and 1 assist.
Now for a couple non-tournament games:
Nov. 27 -- Idaho State @ UTEP -- Avery Thomas was the leading scorer for Idaho State, tabbing 13 points and 5-6 from the line. Unfortunately his team got hammered 80-45.
Nov. 30 -- Vanderbilt @ #9 Louisville -- The Cardinals survived tonight, winning 71-69.
Nov. 30 -- #12 Kansas @ #1 Michigan State -- A gallant effort by the Jayhawks, who fell just short, losing 72-68. Jawouk Bafou scored 8 points but did hit both his free throws. He also had 2 boards, 1 assist, and 2 steals.
Dec. 2 -- Oral Roberts @ New Mexico -- A solid game off the bench for Eddie Chilton who scored 10 points, had 2 assists, and 3 rebounds, and the Lobos won 60-50.
Dec. 2 -- St. Louis @ #12 Kansas -- The Jayhawks overcame a 10 point halftime deficit to win 81-73, and Jawouk Bafou came very close to a double double, scoring 19 points and pulling down 9 boards. The one bad thing is that it took Mr. Bafou 18 shots to get those 19 points, and 12 of them were three pointers.

Nov. 2012 Recruiting
2 of our recruits for next season are still dealing with recruiting efforts, and lets take a look at how they are doing.
SG Fox McCloud - It ended up being between Virginia, St. Josephs, and Duke, but Fox made a decision, and verballed to the University of Virginia!
SG Da Law - Mr. Law also committed this month, and he'll take his highest PPG high school average to Cincinnati, where he'll be a Bearcat.

I have to apologe to rjolley, as for whatever reason, your recruit, Tim Shepard, did NOT redshirt this season. He has been playing for Louisville and I didn't realize it. Let me wrap you up on his stats.
Nov. 13 vs. Northern Colorado -- Tim Shepard came off the bench to score 9 points on 3-5 from the field, 3-5 from the line, and also had 7 boards.
Nov. 15 vs. IUPUI -- Tim Shepard had 7 points, 5 boards, 3 rebounds.
Nov. 22 vs. Arizona State -- Tim Shepard had 7 points, 4 boards, and 1 assist.
Nov. 23 vs. Oklahoma State -- Tim Shepard got his first start but only played 14 minutes. He scored 2 points and had 5 boards.
Nov. 30 at Vanderbilt -- Tim Shepard started, played 15 minutes, and was in foul trouble all game. He scored 8 points and had 5 boards.
Sorry about that rjolley, I'm not sure what happened, I must not have hit the button to redshirt you. I assume you're much happier playing anyways. :)

Dec. 3-9, 2012
Other than a late December tournament for Kansas, everything else up until postseason is just regular season games, so lets jump into the action.
Dec. 3 -- #5 Louisville @ Purdue -- This game was a lot closer than the Cardinals would have liked, as they won 74-71. Tim Shepard logged 37 minutes of action, the most on the team in this game. He had 15 points and 9 boards in what I would say is his best performance of the season.
Dec. 3 -- Idaho State @ Minnesota -- Avery Thomas led his team with 13 points, but it wasn't nearly enough as Idaho State was blasted 94-44.
Dec. 4 -- New Mexico @ San Diego -- Eddie Chilton was a non-factor this game, scoring just 2 points in 8 minutes, and the Lobos lost 57-51.
Dec. 5 -- Idaho State @ Air Force -- Idaho State couldn't hold on to a 7 point lead and lost 56-53 in overtime. A gallant effort. Avery Thomas had a dismal shooting night, just 3-16 from the field, 1-10 from three point land, and 3-8 from the line. He finished with 10 points, 4 boards, and 3 assists.
Dec. 6 -- #13 Creighton @ Kansas -- The Jayhawks broke open a close game in the second half and won 64-48. Jawouk Bafou pulled down 11 boards, but only scored 6 points.
Dec. 6 -- New Mexico @ Denver -- The Lobos overcame 16 turnovers to win 51-45, as Eddie Chilton went 2-3 from the field with 1 assist and 5 points.
Dec. 7 -- Alabama A&M @ Stanford -- An easy victory for Stanford, as they roll 79-41.
Dec. 8 -- Lipscomb @ #5 Louisville -- The Cardinals avoided a near upset in this one, as they barely hung on for a 73-68 victory. Tim Shepard had 13 points and 3 rebounds.
Dec. 9 -- UMKC @ Kansas -- The Jayhawks rolled to an 86-51 victory, as Jawouk Bafou played just 20 minutes due to foul issues, but he finished with 18 points on 6-12 shooting, all three pointers.
Dec. 9 -- Winthrop @ Stanford -- Stanford used 54.8% shooting to win 88-69.

I can honestly say I've never seen a team win 2 games in a week and drop 14 spots in the polls, as Louisville did. Granted, both wins were by a combined 8 points, one to a team that they probably should have beat by 40, but still

Dec. 10-16, 2012
Dec. 10 -- Miami @ New Mexico -- Eddie Chilton had a solid game off the bench with 7 points, 4 boards, and 4 assists, and one of his teammates had 44 points, as New Mexico won 75-69.
Dec. 11 -- Illinois State @ #19 Louisville -- The string of average basketball continues for Louisville, as they dropped their first game of the season, 58-56. A bright spot for Louisville was Tim Shepard, who recorded a double double with 14 points and 10 boards. Go Tim!
Dec. 11 -- Bradley @ #18 Kansas -- Jawouk Bafou led all scorers with 21 points, but it wasn't enough, as the Jayhawks lost 63-59.
Dec. 12 -- Idaho State @ Wyoming -- Avery Thomas had 16 points, 5 rebounds, and 3 assists, but it wasn't enough as Idaho St. lost 69-56.
Dec. 12 -- Stanford @ Dartmouth -- The Cardinal rolled to an 87-58 victory tonight, committing just 6 turnovers in the game.
Dec. 13 -- Tulsa @ #18 Kansas -- The Jayhawks got back on the winning way tonight, hammering Tulsa 89-47. Jawouk Bafou pitched in 10 points on 4-6 shooting. A solid game, but not great.
Dec. 14 -- Idaho State @ Utah -- Avery Thomas led his team with 17 points tonight, and also added 6 rebounds. Unfortunately, its easy to be a bright spot when your team isn't very good. They lost again tonight, 76-57.
Dec. 14 -- New Mexico @ Northern Arizona -- It was an easy win for the Lobos tonight, as they rolled to a 96-49 victory. Eddie Chilton saw limited action, just 14 minutes, but he scored 7 points on 3-3 from the field, including a three pointer.
Dec. 14 -- Stanford @ Norfolk State -- Another easy victory against a subpar team tonight, as the Cardinal rolled 88-57.
Dec. 16 -- Drake @ #18 Kansas -- A tough game for Jawouk Bafou tonight, who scored just 5 points on 2-7 shooting. He did grab 8 rebounds and had 3 assists, and the Jayhawks won 71-56.

Dec. 24-30, 2012
We have 1 holiday tournament to talk about this week, as Kansas is playing in the San Juan Classic as the #1 seed, so we'll start there.
Nov. 28 -- (8) Pennsylvania vs. (1) Kansas -- The Jayhawks outscored Penn 50-19 in the second half to break open a close game, winning 97-55. Jawouk Bafou had 17 points and 7 boards.
Nov. 29 -- (5) Auburn vs. (1) Kansas -- Jawouk Bafou pitched in 15 points tonight on 5-13 shooting and 4-11 from three point range. Kansas won 77-63.
Nov. 30 -- (2) Xavier vs. (1) Kansas -- A quiet night for Jawouk Bafou, who scored only 5 points tonight, and also had 5 turnovers. Yikes! His teammates picked him up though, holding Xavier to 38.5% shooting, winning the San Juan Classic, as Kansas defeated Xavier 63-54.
Now there are a few other games to discuss for the week:
Nov. 25 -- Weber State @ New Mexico -- Weber State shot just 30% from the field, as New Mexico rolled to a 66-49 victory. Eddie Chilton played 16 minutes off the bench and scored 4 points, hitting both his shots.
Nov. 25 -- Robert Morris @ #21 Louisville -- Tim Shepard scored 7 points off the bench tonight, and also had 3 rebounds, but was just 3-9 shooting. Didn't matter, as Louisville won 73-57.
Nov. 25 -- Portland @ Idaho State -- Even on a bad shooting night, Avery Thomas was still able to put up 23 points. Imagine how many points he could have had if he'd have shot better than 6-17 from the field and.. get this... 9-16 from the line. Ouch, those free throw stats hurt. He also had 9 rebounds, but it wasn't enough as Idaho State lost 62-52.
Nov. 26 -- North Dakota @ Stanford -- Rob Nielsen had some fun watching this blowout from the bench. Stanford shot 60% from the field, forced 26 turnovers, and won 106-45. This would have been a great game for our man Rob to see some major PT had he not been redshirted.
Nov. 28 -- Montana State @ Idaho State -- This opened Big Sky Conference play for Idaho State, and they got off to a good start, winning a defensive battle 50-45. Avery Thomas scored 8 points on 3-9 shooting.
Nov. 28 -- San Jose State @ Stanford -- Another game where Rob Nielsen could have gotten some major PT, as the Cardinal rolled 97-49.
Nov. 29 -- Michigan @ #21 Louisville -- Louisville led by 17 at halftime, and Michigan came all the way back, but Louisville was able to right the ship and get a 64-57 victory. Tim Shepard had 11 points and 7 boards off the bench.

I am going to change my format and go to a monthly format. For those of you who are also in the OOTP Interactive Dynasty, Cheap Whiskey and Flannel, expect my format to be similar to that. I'm doing this for 2 reasons.. 1st I can get more done in a quick amount of time, and I don't have a lot of free time to begin with. 2nd, I think it is just easier.
I don't know when I'll have a report, as right now my computer at home is down and out.. again! I'm starting to hate computers. I got the blue screen of death the other night and now I have no internet connection. As soon as that is fixed (hopefully soon), I will jump back into this.

Just wanted to let everybody know this dynasty is being put out to pasture. I had to get a new computer because my old one was screwed up so bad it couldn't be repaired. I apologize for the lack of finishing this dynasty, I hate having to give up on dynasties. I will be starting a new dynasty with FBCB at some point, and I will still have my whatifsports dynasty going. I apologize again, I'm starting from scratch with a new computer.
