It was 30 years ago today, Nov. 30th, 1982, that the album Thriller was released. I remember not being able to go anywhere in the summer of '83 without hearing one of the songs off of the album playing on a boom box.

For younger people, MTV would play Thriller every hour. Considering the length of the video, it felt like it was always on.

I think I preferred David Bowie's "Jazzin for Blue Jean" which got the same mini-movie treatment. Granted he's actually an actor. But the zombie/horror thing and Vincent Price and all did appeal to kids. Heh I forgot about the "every hour" thing. Heh.
And the unfortunate thing is it gave lots of people the delusion that they can dance by copying one move.

Great album except that the song thriller was the most overrated song and video of all time, imo. Even when it came out, I would not watch the video and instead wait for Billie jean or beat it.
