I belatedly read that you could indeed pick more than one (yes, I realize it was multiple choice. Still..) and I only voted for one. So add +1 to britrock and Comey because they'd be my #2 and #3 respectively.

larrymcg421 saved his reach for ManUtd (the NY Knicks of soccer, of sorts) with the picks of the Bulls and Penguins to be 2nd best in my opinion. But I had to go with Grover's collection of Real Madrid, Steelers, Detroit Red Wings and the NY Knicks.
The rest of the lists were sort of 'meh' to me.

Grover has the best list.
Now, if someone had voted in their NCAA Other category for West Virginia University for rifel/marksmanship/gun category, then that would have gotten an auto-vote from me :)

Larry's got this hands down in my opinion.

Plotting this out in Excel so I can look across the category and rank 1-8.
Finding the NCAAB is the hardest category for me to rank. I've got my clear bottom 3...then a mishmash.
I should clarify...hardest category that I have a clue about. Soccer I don't know a damn thing, and not sure how I'm going to grade that category.

I also put this into Excel and rated each category, lowest score wins.
larry - 27
Comey - 33
britrock - 33
WSU - 34
Bisbo - 35
Grover - 40
spleen - 42
NTO - 44
I definitely had trouble with soccer, and I'm guessing there could be some wild swings based on how you defined the intent of the draft. But a clear winner here.

yeah, i didn't know how to organize it. i figured just leave it in order so at a cursory glance the blue chips would be on top

Obviously part of this is opinion I have the Steelers as the top NFL franchise, Packers second. I'd buy that reversed if you made that claim. I don't buy the Cowgirls as the top one or two. So if you think the Cowboys are the ##1 then I'd disagree with ya.
EDIT: - Plus, no one says you have to rank them equally. Do I honestly think that NCAA Other is on the same footing as the Yankees or the Steelers? If so, how do I compare UConn woman's BBall team vs Iowa Wrestling when they aren;t the same sport?

I went Packers 1, Steelers 2...beyond that I don't remember if I had Dallas at 3 or 4, I accidentally trashed the spreadsheet once I was done.

Using patented Bobblenomics, the results are clear:
80.2 Comey
76.4 Grover
76.0 britrock
69.1 WSUCougar
67.4 Bisbo
68.2 larrymcg
65.9 spleen
56.4 NTO
Bobblenomics ranks each category 8 to 1 with 8 being the best. Then, it multiplies those ratings by the square root of the pick number (1.8, 3.4, etc.). That way, an 8 point best in category that was taken in the second round (2.8 frex) is worth more than an 8 pointer taken 1.1. Why square root? Because it sounds more scientific.
I also owe a slight apology to WSUCougar. I thought you screwed the pooch with the Cardinals and Wolverines but there were some solid picks in there too.

Larry's solid 2-8 but he took a soccer team No. 1. That's like taking a kicker with the first pick of the NFL draft.

Izulde
12-10-2012, 04:41 PM
1. larrymcg by a wide margin
2. NTO by a significant amount over third place
3. WSUCougar despite his incredibly asinine St. Louis Cardinals first overall pick. He rebounded beautifully the rest of the draft, and had one of the most well-rounded teams.
WSUCougar
12-10-2012, 05:11 PM
(A) I got a vote, yay!
(B) I was called "asinine" in a poll about prestigious sports teams :p
NorvTurnerOverdrive
12-10-2012, 05:37 PM
prestige is the monkey wrench. means different things to different people. nostalgia, where you grew up, etc.
cuse lax is a really big deal here. but west of the rockies lax doesn't register on the radar.
also, i think there's a fair debate to be had about dynastic eras vs. long term prestige. belichik era, jordan era, gretzky era. on their own i wouldn't consider the pats/bulls/oilers prestigious franchises
Larry got my vote.
Cougar 2nd
Spleen 3rd.

heh. i meant to bump this so we wouldn't have a tie for second. ah well, second's just the first loser cuz larrymcg421 opened a healthy can of whoop-ass on the rest of us.
congrats larry!
