For the last 3 days, the Texas High School Division State titles were being decided. 3 games a day. Attendance for tonight's 5A big school between Allen and Lamar fills three levels at Cowboy Stadium and breaks the record for attendance.
Nike put a coaches suite together for us to watch the games from, and there are over 140+ media outlets filling the media section.
Impressive experience for the kids.

The town I grew up in didn't have 2,500.

dola--
That's mighty impressive. PA football gets good crowds, but I cannot fathom 48k. Very cool.

It definitely helped that both teams were DFW Metroplex schools. If you ever get a chance to attend, the Texas state championship weekend is something to experience. I went to a private school, and missed out, since the parochial schools had their own league, separate from the public schools. But two of my cousins went to Southlake Carroll during their epic run, and I went to few championship weekends. It is simply unreal.

Dola,
My bad, it was Houston Lamar, not Arlington Lamar. Allen is the school some folks heard about that debuted their $60 million stadium this season.

That's more fans than the Bucs and Rays combined.

Yeah, but Houston Lamar is one of the big football (factories) powers in the city

They could have 100,000 for a high school football game in Texas but it will never beat the 1994 state championships. Should have quit there, because they will never beat this.

Ok, this was worth watching for just the play by play and color commentary.
I was curious why they went for 2 down 41-37 though - hitting the PAT gets you within a field goal of tying. When they missed, they HAD to have the TD.

While this is pretty famous, (I was even there), there are games every playoff season just as crazy. (Without the pbp guys).

I'm going to guess there kicker isn't NFL caliber accurate and you might as well play for the win.
Amazing game, did not expect that comeback at the end.

The PBP guys made it work. The comeback was crazy enough -- I have hard time believing that happens all the time! But those homers were awesome.
Maybe it's on the extended highlights, but I could have sworn one of the guys kept saying "You don't give up on your kids!" over and over again. I still use that line, and screamed it repeatedly at the Mizzou/San Diego State game in 2010 during the "Moe Miracle" when TJ Moe caught a short pass and took it 68 yards for a TD with less than a minute to go and all the other fans were filing out.

Sign #425 that there are too many bowl games.
