Batch Renaming Tool?

I remember many years ago I used some program to rename a massive amount of files to whatever I specificed with a # at the end of the name... anybody know what I could be referring to?

i use reNamer (http://www.den4b.com/?x=products&product=renamer) and Bulk Rename Utility (http://www.bulkrenameutility.co.uk/Main_Intro.php)

Put them all in a folder, highlight them all in explorer, right click, rename, name the first one and hit enter. All others will be renamed with a number after them.
