I was in AC in March at the Revel playing 3 card poker with my college mates and witnessed first hand probably the rarest of possible hands.

This particular table allowed you to make a $1 side bet to win a progressive jackpot if you got a "Spade Royal" of A-K-Q of spades.

After a few hours, my friend (was playing the progressive) hit the Spade Royal. A few of us also had good hands - one of us had a 3 of a kind and I had a flush - but only the Spade Royal won because the dealer had a royal flush as well, A-K-Q of clubs.

Play was stopped for nearly an hour as the casino when through the motions to make sure everything was legit - and practically every pit boss, security dude, and manager came by to look.

What are the odds one person hits a spade royal AND the dealer gets a royal as well?

that is off the charts high.

How much did he win?

Apparently the odds of one person getting a mini-royal in Three Card Poker is 0.0181%, with the odds of a spade royal specifically 0.004525%. My statistics calculations are rusty but I believe the odds of two hands getting a mini-royal on the same play are 0.00000061426875%

In other words, you had a much better chance of winning the Powerball than seeing this happen.

edit: revised the odds on both getting a royal. forgot to take into account that the spade mini-royal was already claimed.

I'm a supervisor at the Revel, table games... I work in that pit quite a bit and have given out $8G as a bonus in 4-card poker... (4 aces)

That was crazy, though....

And not to hijack, but just the other night my buddy was about to pay out $6G on two $100 "match the dealer" bets. Each $100 bet pays 30 to 1, if your two cards are the same as the dealers "face" card....

Turns out, the game had just opened and the dealer, when washing the cards, stacked the first 6 cards "kings" and had a friend open the game and make the $100 bets...

So, player had two hands of "two kings" and dealers "faceup card" was a king....

Looked suspicious to my buddy, and he called surveillance to verify the scam... pretty ballsy move by the dealer. he got walked out in cuffs the next night by the DGE...
