...Def Leppard's Hysteria was released (August, 1987). I feel a bit old.

They were my favorite band for a long time. One of the girls I liked back then loved them, and she passed away tragically just before turning 16 so there will always be a soft spot for them. I have soured a bit on the band as I got older, but some of their stuff if still fun to listen to and somehow doesn't sound as dated as it should. One thing I like about them the most is they got that music was suppose to be about having fun. "Mutt" really made the band though for better or worse.

Yeah, Mutt was huge for them in the 80s. He was like the 6th member of the group. They've been my favorite band since Pyromania came out. After Pyromania and Hysteria, their albums have been a mixed bag. Some were pretty crappy - Euphoria, for instance. I really enjoyed their most recent album, Songs From the Sparkle Lounge (they call their hangout area before live shows "The Sparkle Lounge"), and I put Slang right up next to Hysteria and Pyromania. It had a very stripped down sound to it, very different from their sound with Mutt. It was their attempt to fit in more in the 90s when grunge was the big thing. It was a commercial flop, but I listen to it more than any of their other albums now.

They are one of those bands that I always liked, but would never think of when asked "What are favorite bands?"

Hmm, figured you just got lucky after a 26 year drought, but I guess your streak is still going

Pyromania and Hysteria get all the love, but High N Dry is a very underrated album

Oh yes, High N Dry is awesome. Hysteria brings back memories of working in a restaurant in the 80's. Good times being young.

Took a girl I was chasing to the Hysteria concert when they came to town. They were doing the concert "in the round" and one member would do a protracted solo and the others would grab girls from the audience, and disappear below stage. We were close to the stage, and the singer kept staring at my date. I kept thinking, "Damn it, he is about to point her out and I will have to witness this horror!" I kept accidentally standing in front of her when I thought he was looking over. Longest concert of my life.

Poor Joe... You cost him a shot at her!

Not in the round, but they did the whole extended drum solo and Joe part where the other members were know for grabbing chicks for quick sexual exploits before they came back on stage.
