View Full Version : Artemis Bridge Simulator (Calling all crew for Friday/Sat Night)

Played this at GenCon. Holy fuck, it's so awesome. It is a up to six player game where each player controls one or more departments (Captain, Navigation, Engineering, Weapons, Science/Sensors, Communication) on the brige of a starship as you attempt to defend your sector and its starbases from a horde.
The stations are all set up like Star Trek stations.. we played on giant touch screen TV's that's like working the consoles on Star Trek, but it's set up for mouse and keyboard
I'm definitely getting a bridge crew license ($40 for a six player server basically), and while it's optimized for face to face play in a room.. this can be apparently played over the Internet with voice chat. So, if this kinda game tickles your fancy, let me know, it would be great to do a FOFC game:

Cool: A friend of mine saw my post elsewhere on this and sent me a link:
Apparently on the Jonathan Coulton sponsored cruises (a huge geek-fest), one of the events is "Celebrity Artemis" featuring various special guests.
For example, in this one, the crew includes noted sci-fi writer John Scalzi and the Captain, who happens to know his way around a starship or two... Wil Wheaton :)

Game is a hoot. Not sure playing it online. Half the fun is sitting in the same room as everyone else.

Speaking of GenCon, Fozz. Remember some of the buddies I went with when we met? They're mostly there...and got upgraded to the presidential suite at the marriott. If you wanna play something with them in the Uber Suite, I'll try and hook ya up. :)

Comms officer is pretty boring. Engineering isn't all that hot, but it was supposed to be overhauled, so it's probably good now.

Alright, I purchased the game.. who wants in and when are you available?
edit: Just as a heads up, you will need a headset and microphone, as team chat (either via ventrillo, teamspeak or G+ Hangout) is necessary

PC game, yes?
edit: yes. Answered my own question.
We put the kid to bed about 8pm CST. After that, beam me up.

Dude - I'm for sure in.
If you can make it out here with a laptop, that would be best, but we can do it over net too, DT :)

Though whenever I'm the engineer, I will be speaking in my fake Irish/Scottish accent. Just so you know. :)

Hmm.

Hey if someone online can help me test something, I'd appreciate it, there's a port opened in the firewall, but I just want to make sure it works before the guy who maintains the firewall leaves for a week on business :)

What do you need - a ping or something? hit me up on steam or fb

We managed to get the server up and running (after a lot of "fun" working on firewall rules), and DT and Sack managed to connect, although gaming was not possible as DT didn't have a headset, for which we will rightly shame him till he picks up one tommorrow)
So tommorrow afternoon we may try, if not, it's when three or more of us can get online and connected

This weekend is gonna suck for me. Saturday night is a no too I think (although an outside shot).
I've got grandparents and two aunts and an uncle in town.
