Figured I would alert some of you guys to our new game:

Grey Dog Software is pleased to welcome a new developer to the team and announce the launch of a brand new title, "Arcadia: Guild of Heroes". Designed and developed by Derek DiBenedetto, Arcadia offers a new twist by combing the RPG genre with the concept of pro sports contracts. This unique blend of RPG and career text strategy sim is the first of its kind.

Create your own party from randomly generated warriors every game, making sure to balance the strength of the character with the contract they request. As you exploring distant lands and pilfering all the riches you can, a fully detailed aging algorithm and injury/disease system forces you to make choices as they age about who to keep around, and who you may need to give the axe to. Combine these tough roster decisions with a myriad of quest choices as you struggle to keep your gold chest in the black.

More information on this exciting new title will be revealed over the coming weeks. The new game is currently expected to be released in the 4th quarter at a price of $24.95. In the meantime, you can visit the Arcadia game page (http://www.greydogsoftware.com/arc/) or head over to the Grey Dog forums (http://www.greydogsoftware.com/forum/index.php) to talk about the game.

Nice Arles, but I have to be honest. My very first thought after reading it was, "You have died of Dysentery." :)

Great news, Foz.

I would recommend people try the demo if they aren't sure. You can get it here:

It's a unique twist on the RPG genre.

I did try out the demo, and it had my attention so that I was able to finish it, but I wonder if what I played was the extent of the game, or if as time goes on, it gets deeper?

I would have liked a little more back story on each of the possible quests. As it is right now, it's more like looking at a spreadsheet for risk/reward outcomes.

The post quest writeups are good, but I still felt like I had a hard time getting a feel for the heroes. The interaction with them didn't really feel like anything and the actual character development seemed to be thin.

I can see the idea, and the direction that it's going, but I'm just not sure without a deeper universe, bios, and interaction (See Ryland) that it's going to be a keeper.

Hey PM-

I picked it up and there is some more info in the quests and many more choices.

I do agree with you though that it's hard to get to know the heroes which is likely my biggest complaint.

Overall, I'm enjoying it and it has some real potential to be unique and great.

I downloaded the demo but is says "this app can't run on your PC"

Is it compatible w/ Windows 8?

Yeah, make sure it runs in Admin mode.

Good feedback Pilotman, I would add a few comments to his forum over on GDS.

I figured it out. It was weird, it was saying it was downloaded but the file size was 0. Once I got it downloaded it was no problem

The download for the demo is about 37 MB and the full install around 44. So, they are pretty small files to try!

Tried the demo - seems interesting but pretty dry - I'd like more feeling of knowing more details of each quest and more about the adventurers - I will keep an eye on this to see if more is added in the future.

From the threads over there it seems to get a bit more immersive as you go on after the demo ends. Posters have said pacts come into play more and you get to 'know' your heroes better.

Derek has also indicated he is looking to make it moddable as time goes on, so that should open up some interesting scenarios if a lot of the TEW crawd gets involved creating some mods.

I busted out an oldie, Majesty. I wish this game were more like that, and vice versa.
