Maybe this will wake up Congress, there are too many boiling points running over.

@ABC: Breaking: Someone tried to ram gate at the White House, then fled to Capitol Hill. Shots were fired, but unclear by whom.

This was my first thought.
You know we've reached a fucked up point in this country when people start doing this sort of thing though...bad news.

I think it is too early to say this has anything to do with the government shutdown.

11:58 AM PT (Jed Lewison): More from Williams: "The crisis is over, in the sense that there is no longer an active shooter." He says the incident began at the White House, and ended with shooting at the Capitol.
12:01 PM PT (Jed Lewison): The shelter-in-place order has been lifted at the U.S. Capitol. There are reports that a female suspect is dead, but there is also a report of a suspect in custody.

Yes. And even though I admit to not being old enough to personally experience this there was a period in this country where assasinations of public figures were somewhat common. (At least as compared to Rep. Giffords being a major event)

Get me WOLF BLITZER!

They are saying now the shooter was a woman. Child was in the car with the woman, unknown to police began to use force against her. CNN's been showing a child being carried away by a policeman

It may not be, it may have been a crime of opportunity, perhaps they thought security would be more lax? Still with the Shutdown in the news, I cannot think there isn't some sort of connection.

Sounds like a car chase that just ended up where it did.

She did apparently try to crash the WH barricades first, so there's some sort of government connection there (unless of course that was also a circumstancial thing too ... which is a possibility I suppose)

There will be a meltdown if this is an NIH mom with a cancer kid, press will have a field day.

You're right, but it'd still be utterly absurd.

Since she tried to crash the White House, I bet she was trying to kill Obama. This whole government shutdown is all his fault after all.

She tried losing them in a mini traffic circle. Impressive.

That video is showing the car racing on First Street between the Capitol Grounds and the reflecting pool on the west side. Fortunately, I was walking there this morning and not this afternoon.
I doubt this is anything more than a person with serious mental health problems who was off of her meds.

Like literally a couple hours ago I was going to say that I think folks in the USA are too comfortable to do any kind of protesting over this situation.....scratch that thought, I guess. I certainly can't laud this lady for the fundamentally flawed and morally questionable idea of crashing her car into the Capitol, especially since I have no idea what her motivations are, but even if it's a completely random coincidence rather than an act of protest, it seems like a sadly apt manifestation of everybody's pent up frustration toward our retarded governance. Maybe they'll take it to heart.
....or maybe they'll just keep bickering.

House gives bipartisan standing applause to the capitol police on the house floor. Maybe this tragedy will lead to something positive.

How long before the conspiracy theory that it was all staged as it was the only way they could all get out of this mess?
