This week, 9 quotes were submitted. 2 were duplicative. Of the 8 original quotes, only 1 was removed. It is essentially the same quote that has been submitted 3 times now:

"Subby is Ham for Greek-Fisted Cunt"

The other 7 quotes that will remain in QotM are:

Don't let Subby fool you. He's really just a 13-year old junkie who dropped out of junior high school to pursue a life of crime, drugs, and dwarf porn. Oh, he's a client of mine, too.

illinifan, for this crime, I sentance you to a term of no less than 6 years in a federal pound-me-in-the-ass prison.

I'm away from for a few hours and whenever I come back some drama keeps striking FOFC. This place is really just a bad spanish soap opera with English subtitles.

I'm sure of you lubed him up, it wouldn't feel like Quiksand, Marm.

Coffee, you anti-antite bastard! I'll see you in court!

Nothing inspires the flavor of Kikkoman more than Fluffy hanging from the rafters.

Freedom is not free it has been won by young mens' blood

1 other quote was removed because of complaints. It was:

This thread is gay. I'm going to find a willing sheep and reclaim my manhood.

If anyone (Craptacular) wants to start a survivor like poll to remove quotes, that would be great. For the time being, I'm staying out of the "taste" judgments.

I saw this one today:
"The Toronto Maple Leafs, the New York Yankees of hockey, without the championships! "

I was deepy, deeply offended.

I'm still thinking about starting a polling system. If we're going to use it to remove quotes, I'd want some ideas on how to select the quotes for voting in the first place (eg, go down the list, random, nominations, etc.)

I haven't really thought about it in depth, but I was thinking you could pick 10 quotes that you think aren't so good, let people vote off 2, and include the other poor finishers in the next poll of 10. I don't know how often it would need to be done, but I think it could work. Anyway, that is just my basic idea.

Who actually complains about these things? I mean, I waste enough time here as it is, to say nothing of making an effort to police the QOTM.

I'd suggest that you whiners get a life, but people in glass houses shouldn't call the kettle black... or something.

Yes, but I have never seen Erica Stevens taking off a Yankees jersey.

Well, my idea was not so much like Survivor, where there would be a specific number of "winners" or "losers". I'd put up 10 quotes and let people vote for/against any number of them. You can see how many people voted compared to the number of individual votes for each one. Let's say Quote #1 got 32 "remove" votes out of 50 voters, while quote #2 got 15. If the threshold for removal was 50%, quote #1 would go and #2 would stay. Theoretically, anywhere from zero to all ten could be removed. As for determining the percentage threshold, that would probably be a decision for the mods.

This means there would be one poll per 10 quotes. We wouldn't need multiple rounds as in a Survivor-type system. One poll, leave it up for a few days, and then discard the losers. The polls would be more frequent at the beginning (to weed through the current stockpile), but would then only be needed as more quotes were added.

Whatever you think is best.

I think you need to break this into two categories though. Some of the quotes are offensive to some. The vast majority of them simply are not funny, at least not outside of their original context. Which would we be voting on? Are their separate votes? Can we nominate quotes to be removed due to lack of cleverness?

I believe the votes would just focus on the lack of cleverness/humor.

This one is a quote of mine, but frankly, out of context, I don't really see much humor in it. It was probably only remotely funny taken in context. Just my opinion. ;)

Yeah, it would basically be for humor, cleverness , etc. John already has a system for the others. However, if you think there's a quote that made it on the list that is still offensive (in addition to or in place of not being funny), that's certainly fair game for voting. John may allow it, but it could still be voted off if the community doesn't like it.

First, I was being sarcastic.

Second, when a minority group whines and effects change that affects the majority, I'd say it's pretty obligatory to whine about the whining.

I think it sounds like you've got it figured out. If I were you i'd select ones that are least funny or ones that just seem so out of context that they are nonsense.

Nah, I think the majority is just expected to roll over & take it these days.

edited to add: This was meant as a commentary on society in general, not something specific to QotM or FOFC.

Just for future notice, all variations on the quote that uses "cunt" will be removed as that particular word received the most complaints. Please stop submitting it. As a result, this quote was removed in addition to those above:

"Subby the Greek is a Ham-Fisted Cunt"

How about "Subby the Greek is a Ham-Fisted Snatch?" Would that be OK?

It would be a pretty lame, pointless quote, but it would be up to people on this board to decide.

Since when did the word "cunt" become offensive? It's part of the great american vernacular for the love of all that is holy! Embrace cunt. Say it over and over. Cuntcuntcuntcuntcuntcunt. See? It loses all meaning. There's nothing offensive about it...

Cunt is a furry kitten with a penchant for snugglin'!!!

Cunt is your kid's first little league homerun!!!

Cunt is a beer and a brat and a warm Sunday afternoon!!!

Euphonius? Heck no! Interesting? Absolutely!

c-u-n-t. cuntcuntcuntcuntcunt.

Directions

1) Yell cunt at the top of your lungs while waiting to be seated at Chilis.

2) Feel liberated.

3) Write me a thank-you note.
