After 4 seasons of simulations I've noticed the deep snapper (LS) does not record any stats (tackles). Also on the individual stats (on stats menu) the (LS) does not appear as well.

Anyone else see this

My long snapper has accumulated tackles, usually a couple a season. I cannot confirm if those tackles are on punt team or kickoff team though, since he could be playing on that unit too.

My issue with the long snapper is I had one who refused to resign with me due to complaints about playing time, despite the fact he played every single snap he could possibly play.

I like the addition of the role, but im all for not making it a roster requirement. What OL cant LS?

I liked the way the old version dealt with LS. I'm all for using a back-up TE or C or even LB as a long-snapper. If you wanted to use a roster spot on a stud LS specialist you were free to do so, but not required ... much like other special teams specialists.

I haven't looked at all 32 teams, but I'm guessing most if all have a dedicated long snapper who doesn't play another position. The days of listing these guys on depth charts at positions other than LS are pretty much over. I know the Chiefs used to list their long snapper on the depth chart as a TE, even though he never played the position and admitted if he had to play TE he wouldn't know what to do.

I like the addition, even if it's not implemented the way I would do it. I wouldn't mind being able to put a non-LS snapper into the position with the understanding they might stink.

I've noticed that my LS is listed as a center on the individual stats misc tab

I just wish the LS wasn't part of the Receiving affinity group.

I just wish the LS wasn't part of the Receiving affinity group. This isn't always the case. It appears to depend on their underlying position.

I have a LS who played all 16 games who is 'Angry' with the playing time and won't re-sign????

Not sure what else he's expecting...

There appears to be a bug that LS can sometimes be stud LB underneath and you just aren't seeing the ratings. If you do an export of the player file, see if they have ratings as a LB.

In 4 seasons my LS has 1 total tackle.

Have you checked your "Miscellaneous" stats? Since the LS plays only on Special Teams his tackle stats would only show up for STTck.

I have no idea what made him "happy" again. He continues to play every game. He has no special team tackles.

My LS was the 26th pick overall. Became one right after I picked him...Poor Shannon Sharpe, paid all that money to be the LS......

You can still play him at TE as well. He will show all his true bars for the position. They can do quite well. I had Frank Wychek as a LS and he was the All-Pro TE a few times.

Once I changed him back to te his ratings were much lower than what he was listed as prior to the draft..Much lower. He was servicable but thats about it..

That's too bad. You just have to play them there without changing their position or else they take a huge hit to their ratings. It can get kinda tricky with the position limits but that's the way it goes sometimes.

I actually really dislike this addition because it's just one more roster spot eaten up and it's really by a useless player. I understand the want to emulate the NFL, but it makes it even more difficult to choose that last cut on your team!

I haven't looked at all 32 teams, but I'm guessing most if all have a dedicated long snapper who doesn't play another position.

On the other hand, I'm guessing that most teams don't carry a third QB. (I haven't checked - who was in the game as the Cowboys' third QB anyway?) So while this is a constraint that makes sense, it is on top of at least one other restriction which is not in the game for realism, but to make sure the games can sim without crashing. And even then, it didn't always work right (I don't know if this was fixed, but in 2k7 there were plenty of instances of the AI signing a QB when QB3 was injured). Now if we made it so LS could also serve as QB3... ;)

My hope is that if there is an FOF8, there will be a true practice squad. That's really what these last cuts boil down to, right? How many UDFA and low round picks can be kept around? Especially now that draftees are autosigned, I think a practice squad would be a nice addition. It's up to Jim to determine if it is worth the coding changes, which I imagine would be fairly significant.

It looks like you can't convert centers to long snapper, even if they have long snapping skills. So you're limited to the pool of existing long snappers, which numbers about 20 in free agency in the default roster. Those guys should really stick together and demand more money or something, apparently there are only 50 of them in the world that can do that job and every team has to have 1.

Edit: Wait though, looking back in this thread, I guess you can convert TEs? Never mind then. I haven't tried that.
