starting out

I'm just about to start playing the game for the first time. I want real players/teams/staff. Is thIs possible and if so how do I go about setting things up.

Also what settings give the most realistic results ?

Anything else I need to know ?

To start with real players/ staff, simply start a new career with existing default rosters and familiar coach names. You can also choose to turn "X-Factor" off, which will keep the ratings of players closer to reality.

For realistic results, you're going to probably want to play at about 150 injury setting and keep combine accuracy at 50 or higher.

The only other thing you need to know is that the first 5 or so off seasons of your franchise will likely play out a little funky because NFL salaries and FOF contracts aren't really in line with each other, so the CPU has a little trouble keeping some of its players at times early in careers. This may be something Jim is addressing in some way through his first patch, but I am not sure about that at all. At any rate, this usually irons itself out after the initial contracts in the game play themselves through.

The only other thing you need to know is that MP leagues are an awesome way to experience the game, so once you feel familiar with things you should check for some openings if you're interested. There's nothing better than competing against 31 other human owners to win a fictional football championship.

Going back to your real players comment. Just start the game and play a season, but you'll need to take the time to change names going forward. I did this thru the 2015 season, but going historical is the way to go. Kaepernick and Manziel on the 49ers. Johnny fell to the 5th rd. Just the class generated by the game with name changes before I drafted.

Brush up on the game and then find a historical MP league.

That and the Jets' city - they're in the game as New Jersey. You can't set two teams to the same "city affiliation," so you'll need to rename the city of New Jersey to "New York."

I thought the game listed it as 'New Jersey' by default for that exact reason - because it would flip out if two teams were labelled New York.

It seems fine for me. It gives you an alert that you can't have two teams with the same city affiliation, and it recommends instead changing the name of one of the cities. In this case, you can't set the Jets to share New York with the Giants, but you can change the name of New Jersey to be "New York."

I'm completely new to Front Office Football, though, so maybe a vet could provide better insight on this.

I usually make sure my photos are good. Seems more important. I've also done and seen - New York (G) and New York (J). I haven't tried it on FOF7.

Yeah it works fine for me as well, I have the default New York (Giants) with the code NYK (I haven't tried editing that) and the edited New York (Jets) with the code NYJ. In the standings tables they appear as New York J and New York G (I assume the game recognises that the city names are the same so does something to differentiate between the two).
