Galactic Civilization demo available now

Is this new? I never saw a demo for this game. I've been wanting to try this game especially after the horrible reviews of MOO3. There was a good thread at FOFC about this game. For those who have GC, are you still playing it? Does it have a long life?

Space empires 4 is better in my view. I own all three. Moo3 is very pretty but the combat is throw your flying insects at their flying insects. I found GC's interface to be a little more tricky but much better AI. Space empires is not so stunning visually but it's all about gameplay as ease of play.

I liked Space Empires 4 (Gold) as well. I am still waiting for something to come remotly close to the end-all be-all of Space 4x games...

Of course the question, what features and functionality would make up the end-all be-all of the Space 4x games? I don't even know what I'm looking for specifically.
