Always seemed like one of those guys that loved what he did and never cared too much for the spotlight. Or at least that is how I always perceived him to be.

Loved his stuff. Animal House, Groundhog Day, Ghostbusters, Analyze This, Caddyshack and Meatballs were all great movies. Heck, I think Bedazzled is a good flick too.

I wonder how much this makes a Ghostbuster remake, reboot, etc. that has been rumored officially not happening. Bill Murray has been set against it. There just seems to be less and less people to be involved in it unless you go pure reboot with little to no ties to the original.
Truly an underrated comic mind, RIP.
Agreed. The timing is weird for me, as my wife and I were discussing him Saturday night and pulled him up in IMDB.

At the very least, word has it Bill Murray visited him not long before he died. Hopefully they finally parted ways on amiable terms.
Ramis and I were in the same fraternity - back in college, we always got a chuckle at all the subtle ZBT references he put into Animal House.

Dr. Egon Spengler: There's something very important I forgot to tell you.
Dr. Peter Venkman: What?
Dr. Egon Spengler: Don't cross the streams.
Dr. Peter Venkman: Why?
Dr. Egon Spengler: It would be bad.
Dr. Peter Venkman: I'm fuzzy on the whole good/bad thing. What do you mean, "bad"?
Dr. Egon Spengler: Try to imagine all life as you know it stopping instantaneously and every molecule in your body exploding at the speed of light.
Dr Ray Stantz: Total protonic reversal.
Dr. Peter Venkman: Right. That's bad. Okay. All right. Important safety tip. Thanks, Egon.
Very sad, RIP.

Ramis could always appear as a ghost right?

I hope they don't do a re-make. Movie was great, just let it be now. Come up with new ideas in Hollywood.
Also Groundhog Day is one of the most underrated films of all time. One of the best movies ever made.

i really don't like that one, they're basically sending egon to be tortured. Someone sent me https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-LQA6xC23gbE/Uwux85DmPrI/AAAAAAABIcw/POZP3PN3TxA/w800-h800/ghostbusters-proton-pack-egon-slimer.jpg though.

Looks like Sony is moving ahead with the remake.
I'd also like to point out that Dan Akroyd made a Blues Brother's sequel w/o Jim Belushi.
