First of all, thank you to everyone who participated. Running this was a lot of fun! Also, thanks for putting up with my stick figures. :D

1. Aside from FIFA, what is the most corrupt sports organization / league in the world?

22 - International Olympic Committee
9 - NCAA
5 - NBA
2 - NFL
1 - World Boxing Organization, MLB, Ice Skating

The crazy thing about this is that the IOC totally didn't occur to me, maybe because I didn't pay attention to the Winter Olympics this year. I actually considered also excluding the NCAA in the question, and am glad I didn't. To the person who picked "Ice Skating", I decided not to combine it with the IOC since I believe the international body that oversees Ice Skating (and I believe is supposed to be pretty bad) is separate from the IOC. If I'm wrong on that, I apologize, but results are final.

2. What percentage of the U.S. Congress (i.e. what percentage of all 535 members - 100 Senators & 435 Representatives) have committed a crime (whether caught or not, convicted or not)?

17 - 50%
16 - 100%
3 - 25%
2 - 10%
1 - 5%, 75%, 20%

One person noted that speeding is a crime, and pretty much everyone speeds, so.... To their credit, Stupid was half-way there on that logic. :D

3. Name a crime (defined as actually "against the law") that you would consider to be "victimless".

16 - Possession of drugs / drug use
8 - Speeding
6 - Jaywalking
5 - Prostitution
2 - Wearing a seat belt
2 - Tax evasion
1 - Stealing music from the Internet
1 - Gambling

I combined Possession of drugs & drug use, since splitting between the two seemed pointless as the intent in naming these is the same - describing more-or-less the same crime, as it were.

4. What country do you naturally associate with corruption?

21 - Russia
4 - North Korea
4 - USA
3 - Nigeria
2 - Colombia, Italy, China, Mexico
1 - France

The Olympics + Ukraine were probably too much to beat on this question. FWIW I thought it would be Italy and boy was I wrong....

5. What is the dumbest rule in all of sports?

10 - Tuck rule
9 - Excessive celebrations / goalpost dunking (NFL)
6 - Designated hitter
5 - Offsides
1 - Instant replay, Dropped third strike, PAT, The balk, Pine tar (excessive use of), NCAA strict amateurism rule, Football's pass interference, Unnecessary roughness (NFL), Overtime loss point in hockey, Points for a draw, Boxing scoring

What's amazing is that 7 of those Tuck rules came in a row. Stupid really needs to get over the Tuck rule. I also combined anything to do with excessive celebration penalties for the NFL.

6. In your opinion, what public figure was the most morally and ethically upstanding person of the 20th century?

17 - Gandhi
10 - Mother Teresa
6 - Martin Luther King Jr.
3 - Nelson Mandela
1 - Kurt Warner, Muhammad Ali, Pope John Paul II, Ronald Reagan, Franklin Delano Roosevelt

Stupid, by the way, is convinced that Gandhi is spelled Ghandi.

And now, for the results! (...and some of you are going to be very, very upset....)

The most ethically and morally upstanding member of FOFC, and also the loser of this IWS, is:

Remember when I said I second guessed myself and switched an answer?

I had IOC instead of NCAA. Bah!

Heh, I switch my answer from IOC to NCAA.

Stupid me

Damn. I thought of changing speeding to weed the other morning too.

Same here. Damn NCAA tournament. Distracted me from the true corruption.

Had a respectable finish. IOC and drug use (wow) killed me.
Great questions. Loved seeing the answers.

Bah, possession. Amazingly enough, didn't even think of it - prostitution was the first thing that came to mind and I didn't even consider anything else. Ghandi and Mother Teresa was the only choice I really thought hard on. Very surprised to see 100% come in so strong on the congressman/woman question...I know stupid loves his round numbers, but come on, ALL of them?

:)

From reading any political threads or article comments, it's pretty clear Stupids think that Congress is split 50/50 between criminals and saints; there's just some disagreement over which group is which :)

I am surprised JP2 was only me. My other idea on that was Mother Teresa...Gandhi wasn't even on my radar

I had a hard time getting off of the tuck rule... but went with celebration instead... didnt the tuck rule get 86d?

I had a hard time getting off of the tuck rule... but went with celebration instead... didnt the tuck rule get 86d?

Yep, last March. But still, I was frankly amazed how many people went for it.

It's funny, that question was the last one I developed (I already knew the "most upstanding person" would be the last question), and it came to me on my commute, just as a bit of a silly idea. I think it ended up being my favorite question of the 6.

I am surprised JP2 was only me. My other idea on that was Mother Teresa...Gandhi wasn't even on my radar

I figured Gandhi would run away with it, but was interested in who else made the list. I figured Mandela would have more votes, seeing as he just recently died, but neither MLK nor Mother Teresa didn't surprise me.

The thing about Gandhi, aside from the obvious morally and ethically upstanding part, is that he died quite a long time ago, and his reputation has held up, so even the small, less known things about him that might give one pause are very much buried in the past. I suspect the same will be abundantly true of MLK & Mandela in the future (which is not to detract, at all, from their current legacies - I'm just speaking in context of Stupid and IWS).

Not too bad for my first one. I was thinking tuck rule but accidentally put down balk - got confused for a minute. Whoops.

Russia? My only misstep of the bunch.

Re: Tuck rule - you followed the question with a picture of Belichick. That's why I went with it.

Amazed that I'm the only one who put gambling for victimless crime. Rarely am I that wrong about what Stupid will think.

Good questions.

Gandhi wasn't on my radar either. I went with Mother Teresa, after figuring too many would have issues with JP2.

My thinking too. I got nailed by Russia and the % of politicians. Living so close to the border, Mexico popped in my mind, and I couldn't even think of another contender.

Obviously baseball ruined my chances, although this time I personally chose to go with a baseball themed answer...

Wow! Only really missed by picking Offsides for #5 (had 100% on #2, too).

To echo others, nice IWS, flere. To the crowd, I might take a few days to think of something, but fret not, IWS #216 will happen soon.
