Al Feldstein was the long time editor of Mad magazine. Most of you are not old enough to remember how influential Mad magazine was to those of us that grew up in the 1970s. Even though Mad had been around a long time before, I think the 1970s were the peak. Mad had two significant impact upon me as a jr higher - I read Mad instead of superhero comics and along with Ball Four, generated my lifelong cynicism of entertainment, sports and celebrities. RIP Al.

Mad and Ball Four were two of my main childhood touchstones as well. Especially with Ball Four being about the Pilots, who I adored.

I remember writing a couple of letters to Mad and was sad that they never made it in the magazine. In hindsight maybe an 8 year old kids prose isn't all that compelling.

RIP. I got my uncle's old collection of Mads from the 70s. That's how I learned about Watergate.

Mad had those pictures that you folded to create a new picture, right?

I loved MAD growing up as well. More 80's and probably a little 70's. Was great stuff. RIP
