To those who were, or might be in the future, interested in buying Eve Online... DON'T!

I was a beta tester on this game and I can say that they released this game WAY too early. Just a few days before they ended the beta test, there were still countless errors occuring. And the balance of the game is still broken, imo.

So basically, stay away from this one for now.

All too common with MMOGs these days. :(

I remember how smooth the launch was for the first Asheron's Call. Ever since then, it seems like one disaster after the next. If you don't have the funding or the time, then don't make the freaking game!

I might give star wars galaxies a try right away, but thats assuming that im still alive when it comes out. And the way things re going right now, thats a big assumption.

It's gotten to the point that the only MMOG I'm really looking forward to now is Worlds of Warcraft. Blizzard hasn't let me down yet and they're famous for testing (delaying) their products to death as well as cancelling disasters in the making. Anyone seen some of the screenshots for WOW? Impressive looking game.

What's lame is that you have to pay money to play the games.

But Worlds of Warcraft does look like it will be pretty good.

I think that with Star Wars Galaxies, they are working to create a top notch game from the start. This game has high expectations and will certainly draw in a different crowd than other MMORPGs

DAoC was probably the last 'clean' release for an MMOG. I thought it was a way cleaner release than Asheron's Call was. [How one feels about the game is a different story . . . I personally enjoyed it.]

Daedalus, you're right. Actually, I was going to mention DAoC instead of AC1 but I never bothered to play it out of beta and couldn't remember if it had any problems. It was an okay game it just didn't offer enough to pull me in during beta. It was pretty darn stable in open beta and I don't remember people saying anything bad about it at launch so you're right, it was a remarkably stable launch. Ever since AO and WW2Online, companies have been given us half-ass MMOGs. The freaking chat system didn't work for two months in AC2!

I beta tested Daoc.. and when beta test ended.. they still weren't sure if they could handle the stress.. as their stress test wasn't very large.. Shadowbane's launch wasn't too bad, other then their relying on a website to handle their new account creation

And for the first two months.. zoning into a castle area mean ultra bad frame rates.. but yea.. Daoc was fairly seamless other then that. Then Mythic decided to "rebalanace" all the classes.. and every class got worse.. end of game

Hell, Every everquest expansion that comes out is a adventure in bugs/etc.. and they've released FIVE expansions plus the original game... But i've played this game for nearly 3 years..

Again, if you liked tribes.. Check out Planetside.. I'm just worried about what a large amount of people playing at once will do to the lag :)

You guys should just stick to Neverwinter Nights for your online gaming needs.

It's as good as any MMOOPRGOPG, but free and you can make your own world.
